I do not agree.  Global warming, climate change, is not a distraction.  It's caused by pollution. Not littering but gases.

While I agree that pollution is a real thing, I do feel like the skies are far less in danger than the water table.

Let me tell you a horror story.

The environment is full of plastic waste. Gigatonnes of plastic waste.

Im not going to invoke the image of a dolphin choking on a shopping bag here.

Its far, far, FAR worse than that.

You got gigatonnes of plastic which are mechanically wearing down into ever smaller pieces. Microplastics and nanoplastics.

These fine plastic dusts, in the water, in the air, will at first infiltrate organ systems, enter the body through the lungs or gills and clog arteries etc, but as the particles get finer they will even access the cells and start disrupting those.

Common plastic waste is grinding down to nanodusts more lethal than cyanide, and there are gigatonnes of the stuff out there in the environment.

The danger multiplies as time goes on.

THAT is a problem.

I tell people that puffball mushrooms will fuck your lungs up, I think in reality its a little less grave than that, I just like to say shit to people to get a rise out of them.

Some nano plastic isn't gonna find its way into biological bodies and cause havoc no more than nano rock dust, nano tree dust or nano poop dust.
Number one threat is glass. Glass lasts incredibly long, will stay sharp for thousands of years and will make your ass bleed to death. eliminate plastic and thats what we're left with; fukn glass M8.

But here in the PNW where I and a few other key members are, you know that the soil here is 99.9999......% organic, That beer bottle that you lobbed off into the woods when you were a teenager partying with your friends around a bonfire up in the mountains and you heard it smash against a tree or a previously thrown bottle will be there for a very long time. The best to hope for is it will be covered over in 3 - 5 years by forrest floor sediment.

I got stuck in the Climate protest at The Hague today :facepalm:

As I tried to make my way though the crowds (with my kids in the cargo bike) I had a moment of clarity

As we are approaching a level of available technology where most manual labor jobs are becoming obsolete, so will a lot of people become obsolete. These are generally speaking people of the lower income range.

Climate fear will lead to increased tax regulations eventually resulting in childbirth tax. Once the poor can no longer afford to create offspring, the world population will be balanced within a few generations. Its actually quite brilliant :strokebeard:
