Anyone else watching the destruction of Scientology on the Internet?

Check out http://digg.com . The stories have been on the front page for the past couple of days.
"Anonymous" (what I presume to be a group of hackers from 4chan) have been releasing new private information from Scientology servers every day. Private videos, documents, etc. They are trying to out them as a corrupt and fucked up cult, which they seem to be.

It's been interesting to watch to say the least!

Awesome. It was just a matter of time before all of their heavily guarded inner secrets came to light.
Reminds me of when my aunt visited me this weekend. We were shooting the shit about Scientology and Mormonism and she told me about how her next door neighbor (a freakishly devout mormon) called her up almost hysterical one day. She was at a dentist office and picked up a Time magazine and found an article about Mormons.
She asked my aunt point blank, "does everyone really think of us as a cult?" My aunt could only say "well, yes."
Just a funny story though. Even though mormons are crazy, I'd take them over Scientology (science fiction) folks any day of the week.

i just called the local "church" of scientology in my area. it's 11:20. the guy was immediately defensive and told me our conversation was being recorded. i asked him to teach me, but he said he didn't know that much. i asked why he did not know much, as he was answering the phones. he then told me to teach myself, and to buy dianetics. i told him i bought it at a thrift store for a quarter and it was overpriced. he said it was overpriced for a thrift store, i said thats overpriced everywhere. he kept trying to get my name and address. i was actually being nice the whole time, i repeatedly asked him to teach me, because i want to become enlightened. i told him i will call back tomorrow. these people are fucking nuts, but i thought it was amusing.

i use to be involved with church and we studied mormonism for a while. the reason people believe that they are a cult is because they follow a bible that was written by Joesph Smith and Joesph Smith had multiple wives, was a drunk, ect.
if you ever ask a mormon about Joesph Smith, they usually dont really know what to say.
personally i just leave them alone and tell them im not interested when they come to my door. they are only doing what they truly fell is helping you.

Heh, interesting. I wonder how plausible it would be to join with the intentions of faking your way into a position that would allow you to do some damage.
I usually wouldn't be down for something like that, but jeeze this is such a fucked up religion, err...cult. They are truly ruining people's lives.

It would probably take years to get into a position of authority, I doubt it would be worth it. Not to mention having to keep a straight face through all of their bullshit.

If you have hundreds of thousands of dollars and years of time to devote, then I'm sure you can make it to a position that will allow you to do some damage.
That is if in those years they don't figure you out...

With some biofeedback training, I bet those could be surpassed. But Wakebordr and Ferris have good points.

People are easily brainwashed, they have to be so that they can learn and adapt to their surroundings.
When someone takes advantage of this, its an evil thing.

The whole romantic notion of a group of cyber-rebels attacking a powerful organization such as Scientology appeals to me greatly, but I'm not sure they will be able to have any long lasting effects on the church. Here is a good site that covers the battle:

Apparently the 'training manual' has been taken down. I'd really like to have a look at it. Anyone have a copy they could upload and link here?
