Say something nice about a republican. * 1
    #26197251 -

This is my response to the "dems saying dumb stuff" thread. But instead of saying something bad about the other side, you're going to say something good about them. Don't respond to hate with hate, respond to hate with love.

Republicans have contributed lots of good stuff to this country, like ending slavery. The vast majority of the republicans I've known have been wonderful, upstanding people who go out of their way to help and be kind to their family and friends. Many of them believe in the idea of small government which is awesome IMO. There are a lot of republican politicans who I think did a fantastic job and passed awesome legislation. Many of the religious republicans I know volunteer doing awesome stuff like building houses in other countries. And it just wouldn't be America (or a democracy at all!) without them.

Your turn. Say something nice about a republican.

Orrin Hatch did a lot of wonderful work, some of which with the late Ted Kennedy, on mental health legislation. Nothing negative to say about that.

Younger republicans tend to be open to respectful debate with minimal ad hominem attacks. I don’t agree with them but I respect this tendency.

I can't everything they stand for is in conflict with my values. I have met nice conservatives but what they are trying to do to this country sickens me.

Republicans can debate very well in that they can listen to opposing views without personal vexation.

Lincoln and his emancipation proclamation was great!

Daniel Boone was a good indian fighter and won the western front. During the revolutionary war, Tecumseh's indians and the British declared war on American. Boone fended off the Indians and eventually the British too.

Amash and Hurd stood for what they believed in, even though there was likely some ulterior motives.

McCain's last few years were also quite nice.

Haha I was about to say Lincoln tongue in cheek to be a dick since everyone knows Lincoln was a liberal and would be a democrat today.  But I guess Xul jumped on that grenade for me, thanks for complimenting a liberal Xul!

Arnold Swarzenager was a decent governor of California many years ago, and was a republican, and... I’m having trouble thinking of any other republican politicians that I don’t think are weak willed bought and paid for scum, but I’m sure there’s one or two out there they just dont get airtime on propaganda news.

I'll give them one thing, they're pretty damn good at selling out their souls and the fate of humanity to corporations. Even better than the dems.

I don't see the point in trying to sugar coat things, good qualities don't matter when what you represent and the corruption you are a part of is fucking everyone over.

Indeed, that the vast majority of politicians are groveling minions of corporate lobbying and private deals to make themselves rich is what would make it hard to compliment any democrats as well.

But the current republican party has gone off the deep end and isn’t just making blatantly corrupt deals that obviously benefit their personal hoards but want poor and minorities to suffer and are willing to make a mockery of their own religion if it gets them money and the pain of others.  Many top republicans are looking oddly similar to the Taliban.

Right now the only republicans I’m willing to compliment are those that refuse to play the game of fuck everyone but Trump and those riding his coat tails.

I like those Republicans who find strength in their conservatism in upholding a degree of personal decency beyond that commonly seen, who feels a conservative by nature should act out as a gentleman.

With power comes responsibility that calls for civility and dignity, no? :chump:

News alert, D's don't give two shits about the lower class or minorities.

Just because they claim otherwise, it doesn't make the claim anymore valid.

Does that page include things like how republicans have pushed drug testing because they own drug testing companies.  Or that they push charter schools because they own charter schools? Corruption comes in many forms and not all are logged. Just see Trumps tax returns...

Does it include the money the NRA spends on campaigning against people who don’t take their money? What about other groups?  It is afterall totally legal for the NRA to spend millions on campaign ads against an opponent without ever needing to report that money as going too the politician they support.

No single easy to calculate metric will ever give the real number of donations, kickbacks, backroom deals or golden parachutes that politicians take.

Well, Obama was civil and dignified. That fact didn't stop him from sucking corporate dick at the expense of the working class.

Republicans that have my favor are ones I heard say potent good stuff on record, such as Ron Paul and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I don't believe in outing people, but there's some republicans among the Shroomery staff that bring out the best of conservatism, too.

Qman: So you’re saying that the Ds haven’t made social programs as well as regulations and safety nets? Cause I don’t think you’ve been paying attention then.  I mean if the Ds don’t care at least a little about immigrants, why are they the only ones of the two groups trying to help instead of cage them?

Ds: Sanctuary cities.
Rs: Cages and family separation.
Clearly, the same!

It kinda seems like republicans keep stopping them from doing good, and then using it to claim the democrats are just as bad.
