I'm not sure he necessarily had to divest. I'm really just not sure, but supposedly any of hia earnings from his companies are going into a trust controlled by his sons...and that trust is getting filled with tax money.


Well, you'll forgive me for automatically assuming anything coming out of donald's mouth is straight bullshit. I mean, the guy lies about the smallest stuff and then doubles down on it, even when there is photo and video evidence of not only his lies, but him saying the exact opposite a week ago.

Failure to divest would likely violate the emoluments clause of the constitution, but nobody on the right really cares about the constitution anymore outside of the second amendment. And possibly interpretations of the first amendment that allow for religious discrimination.

Maybe you're right, I guess qman will have to intervene. I will say, his original comment about superior genes came across so laughable I damn near spit my drink out. The tone of it came across as a troll, but I suppose the absurd is just out right hilarious at times, intentional or not.

I don't doubt he's not taking a salary. I think you're asking the stupidest question possible, though.

I also wouldn't take a salary if I was collecting a multi-million dollar kickback instead, and could fool idiots by telling them "I don't take a salary!"

This is one reason why government salaries need to go up. Most government representatives get the option of 174k or several millions in kickbacks/bribes.

One thing I've learned, in recent times, is that it's really not all that hard to have superior genetics/superior social status in the US. If you're not actively in debt and if you have more than 500$ in the bank, you're above average.

He proposed a "cancer moonshot" where they'd advance the science in five years that would have taken ten years without a bigger commitment across the board (from funding research to getting more peeps into clinical trials to getting better treatments to smaller communities, etc etc)

Presidential salary is nothing compared to the actual benefits. 

While in office the Prez gets free everything.  While out of office they still get multi-million dollar security (probably absolutely no limit to how much), they will always get the best medical (full package for family as well).

Then there's all the money they get from promoting their-self for the rest of their life.
