We all get sensitive to the loss of life and horrors of war.  Iran is not the icon of civilization.

If I'm going to feel bad for a nation it's poland from 1939 till 1991 or round abouts. Fucked from both the Germans and Soviets.  We really don't hear much at all thst really went on in Poland.

Truth about muslim nations is if they weren't so brainwashed by religious culture and had any other orienting though they'd be assively better off.  Same goes for the USA, religion is a parasite of the human condition.  People lack tools for hope and religion is an intellectually poor mans device.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

Its not just the oil (that's a very small part of it), it's that Saudi Arabia hates Iran. We love selling them weapons, but the USA wants to use ours', first. Gabbard had a spot on tweet.

I would 100% support selling the netherlands our latest and most advanced ICBMs, supersonic gliders, and any other military hardware they want. Hell, I'd support giving it to them for free.

And I say that as a believer in nonviolence and pacifism who is opposed to nuclear proliferation. The netherlands having such things would actually be helpful for the world on all of those fronts.

Not trying to be a dick but some of holland was sympathetic to Nazis.  Those that were had their hair ripped out.

Last thing the world needs is nuclear tipped egos.  Holland came a long way then reversed some.  It's not the soft smart drug haven it once sirta was.

You're referring to moffenhoeren ("kraut whores") which are Dutch girls who loved up the SS and Wehrmacht personnel.

Their hair was not ripped out, they had their heads shaven, much in the same way as happened to new arrivals in concentration camps, with the difference that they were free to go, after.

Collaborators, you had them in all nations.

The praxctice to give these girls a haircut, as opposed to beating up like was customary with male collaborators, came from France.

It served to shame them, akin to the yellow star.

The hair grew back and that was the end of that.

Interesting thought experiment I always had, that seems to be more and more relevant:

How many "resistance" fighters killed obstructionist "collaborators"?

On the one hand, an effective resistance fighter must be willing to kill their own countrymen, friends, and family. If they are not willing to do so, then the enemy can simply hide among the locals and use them as protection. The resistance fighter's job is to commit monstrous acts of terrorism and atrocities targeting the enemy regardless of the cost to the local population. This lack of discretion has a secondary purpose, in that it discourages any sort of collaboration with the enemy and basically forces the locals to segregate themselves as much as humanly possible from the enemy so as to not become collateral damage.

On the other hand, the effective resistance fighter also requires a certain skillset. Or, more accurately, a certain physique, which simply is not available to anyone past their mid to late 20s. A resistance fighter is, by any comparison, the equivalent of special forces. They need to be able to operate with combat effectiveness deep behind enemy lines, and be competent enough to strike rapidly and retreat before the enemy has a chance to mount an effective defense or counterattack. Apart from simple knowledge of the combat zone, this also requires immense stamina to avoid pursuit. After all, a captured resistance fighter is by definition a terrorist and has no rights as a prisoner. It is safe to assume that if a resistance fighter is captured alive, their entire cell is compromised. This is partly why any resistance is inherently decentralized.

This provides a conundrum for the aging resistance member. For example, I no longer have the physique that I did in my 20s. Sure, I'm in better shape than most, but I can't just step outside and bust out a sub-6 mile like I could in college. I can't just crank out 30 pull ups. My fitness routine consists of rowing a few k every day--good for cardio, but it's not exactly a training routine to rival the marine corps. Plus, I get slower and weaker every year.

I do, however, have a skillset that comes with age. I have a resume that can get me in almost anywhere, as well as the experience to bullshit my way through damn near any questions. I no longer look like a dumbass college kid with more balls than brains. When I wear a suit, I look less like "my first sales job" and more like "VP". Even when I wear my normal, uh, "colorful" wardrobe, I don't look like a high school stoner anymore.

This means that if I was to play to my strengths as a resistance member, my strengths would be as what outwardly appears to be a collaborator. I could much more effective throw wrenches into an organization from within than I could from the outside. False documents, minor but incredibly important mistakes, that sort of thing. Shit like ordering 40,000 buns instead of guns. Minor overworked civil servant mistakes.

Bit like Lt. Gaeta in 2004 Battlestar Galactica. Possibly the most influential member of the New Caprica resistance, and almost executed for it.
