Looking at that creepy quote and that picture of him, I have my doubts about that declaration of his proliclivities.

I think he just wanted to keep people out of Thailand that are in his social circle.  Less incriminating.

I think what he's trying to argue is not that the victim actually was willing, but that his MIT colleague was unaware of the coercion by Epstein. Maybe so, but there is still the problem of her being underage.

I get what he means on that second quote.

He isn't referring to the little kids. He means the older middle school and high school kids.

yeah, can respect that
the main "villain" here is still Epstein
but that does not mean that, because the person who had sex with her was not necessarily knowing in her assault, she was not assaulted

he could have, perhaps, worded it better
but as it stands now, the words he used convey the message that it was not a sexual assault because his friend didn't know
which downplays the manipulation and evil of Epstein's involvement -- she was still a victim of abuse, even if she was ordered to present herself willingly to an unwitting abuser

in a similar respect, up here in Canada it is not illegal for an individual to be a sex worker,
but it is illegal to buy in as a customer
