i have studied and played guitar for, 15-20 years

right now i can not think of a tougher guitar player.

his stuff is very simple sounding, but the chops are not at all easy to mimick, not the way he does it at least

plus, he is sloppy as can be live usually, but when he lays down the tracks in a studio it just kills

that is a opinion i have formulated slowly over the day

plus he did probably the best rock and roll photography session ever done with annie leibovitz, rock solid performance.

John Williams does not get blood transfusions from severe drug addiction and then make it to tokoyo the next day to play a sold out stadium. John Williams is not rock and roll.

I thought you meant tougher as in tougher to play. True, Richards is a madman. However his guitar skill is passable, but was never anything notable

Mark Knopfler [of Dire Straits fame] is, all things considered, the best guitarist alive.

i only know that money for nothing song from them i think

yes, very simple sounding, but not too easy for any other guitarists to duplicate really solid like that
