I am convinced that using lining is worth it...
    #26189806 -

I use pond lining and the best advice I've read about is folding over the sides and taping one side to the tub wall, while leaving the other side of the fold flimsy so it can stick and give in to the substrate as things move along.  I felt I had to complicate things by using pond lining because trash bags seem like a lazy alternative.

What I don't like about not having a lining is not that the shrooms are lower quality or smaller (which isn't always true), it's that they seem to grow clumped together from the same 'pods' if you will.

In the most basic terms possible, using a liner is wasting money. It does next to nothing, and wastes plastic that you had to buy at one point. I have done both ways, and i am currently using no liner whatsoever. My side pins are minimal to none.

Surface conditions is the key,you don't need a liner but if ur not gonna be around all the time to monitor, a liner can help, i use garbage bags n just cut them once everything's in after spawn the 2 layers helps cuz the one layer sticks to the sub as it shrinks.
I prefer a liner cuz im not always around n it makes cleaning my tubs out a bit easier

yeah those are good examples of not using a liner.

what do you mean "what?"

oh nm u edited.  I just hear people sometimes saying side pines are undesirable and I'm just saying that's not true.  Like I said, I just don't like the mushrooms clumping together.

and btw, you are a fucking expert!  I don't have those skills yet!

no mostly they are just a lot easier to pick away from the sides.  I have been picking and picking for 48 hours now!  I will thoroughly document my second flush from the 66qt coming up.  just finished second flush in a 12qt, just starting first flush from another 12qt

The idea IS to grow in clusters... I like 1 big cluster that covers the entire surface:awesomenod:

6mil plastic sheeting. Pull the length of a standard trash bag, cut the long sides and there you have about 10 liners in three cuts.

:whathesaid: it’s actually easier to harvest if they grow in clusters:shrug: you can pull the cake out and cut whole clusters at once like this

The only reason I use liners is because it’s much easier to remove the cake to harvest:thumbup:
