just put dub on shoebox - SOUR smell /-:

the BFR spawn has been colonizing the shoebox (bucket coir/verm tek) for 10 days in dark.

Just took it out of bag and added second shoebox on top....noticed a sour smell. 

Will this go away over the next day or two?  Or just get worse?

I don't want to risk contaminating future grows...have two other shoeboxes (not yet sure if also smell sour).

prolly junk but need to c it. also dont keep it in the dark. thats old ass out dated bullshit that aint true its quite false actually cuz light helps during all periods of growth

There shouldn’t be any sour smells, after that long it should be more close to smelling like mushrooms or a clean smell…

Stinky and sour smells are always a indicator that it contam.

I agree, tolls that bad boy out and keep an eye on the other tub/s…

Pics would definitely help.

Thanks y'all!  Yeah, I did a search...and one person said they noticed a sour smell at first...but that it went away. 

Just wasn't sure if a sour smell could still be ok....always tough to toss a whole box without giving it a try.  but don't want to put other boxes at risk.

If sour smell = bacteria, your risk of cross contamination is very low.  Give it a while and see what happens is what I’d do.  If it fails, toss it.

Ideally, you only want to be smelling the smell of mushrooms.

As for contaminating other grows, shouldn't be any real issue with that, especially if it's a bacterial contamination (which I suspect it is based off your limited description)

Air it out to see if it dissipates...I had a funky sour smell before but that was after a dunk so doesn’t sound good so early. Still though let it do it’s thing and keep an eye and nose on it.
