sour smell is this normal wbs

i used wbs for the first time and it has a sour smell and it looks like it is colonizing what should i do

If its growing, let it grow. If you see contamination, toss it.

The sour smell is pretty much definitely the sign of bacteria.  The next couple of days it will probably get much worse.  Look for greasy or slimy spots developing.  Normally, wbs smells like grain :wink:

If only one jar smells toss it. If they all smeel let them grow away from your other stuff and see. WBS does have an awkward smell. Nuthin to loose right

Its prolly a bacterial bloch, after a while you might start smelling alchohol, which means the wbs is fermenting. That equals bad, that sour smell brings back bad memories, one time I had 6 rye casings and one straw log that had a bacterial blotch. Nothing survived, I suggest you remove your contaminated substrate immediately, for it makes your terarrium smell bad for a while which probably means you have to clean it.
