I am already voting for Trump but I am just posting in here to read your opinions on the debate as this thread progresses.  It's going to end up Biden Vs. Trump, Trump will win I believe.  Enjoy.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

Here's how I see it so far:

Sanders tanking because his voice is fucked and everyone knows it but is too nice to say anything. Unfuck your voice pls.

Yang started with some wtf nonsense but doing okay considering how he started. I mean there's only up to go from there I guess.

Biden doing mediocre, better than the last two debates, but that's a really low bar.

Warren normal warren mediocrity. Boring.

Klobuchar is like a soccer mom who is angry about something after a game but is so angry that she's having trouble explaining herself properly. Probability of nomination -1000%

Buttigieg is like a nerd in highschool who is trying really hard to be cool during a presentation in front of the class.

Booker IS REALLY OVERLY EXPRESSIVE LIKE HE'S TALKING IN ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME

Harris is just unwatchably bad and awkward and terrible, so bad that you didn't know anyone could be quite that bad.

Beto being boring.

Castro no one cares.

Warren probably overall winner of the debate just because she didn't have any major problems. Followed by Biden, then sanders whose whole performance was destroyed by his voice.

I mean, it's true that his voice shouldn't matter, it should be his ideas that matter, but in the debate I feel like it did negatively affect his performance overall.

The democratic party is comprised of various coalitions that are at odds with each other. Fundamentally the problem with the democrats is many of them try be republican lite.

As someone to the right of center, how would you characterize "what is going on in the Democratic party"?

And to answer your question, I'm not happy with the establishment's presumptive nominee, no.  (Biden, of course)

I'd say good ideas, mediocre candidates, which happens to both parties from time to time.

Honestly, I doubt anyone will be able to beat trump, but you have to pick someone who has to at least try. And you want that person to do a good job even if they're going to lose.

In addition, I think debates like this help decide which ideas the democrats are going to adopt or ignore, what direction the party is traveling in ideology wise. Most of the time, stuff like that is pretty stagnant, but at debates it can be very fluid and fast moving. Ideas are argued over, there are clear winners and losers, the winners go on to influence the party, but even the losing ideas are often remembered and still go on to influence things in one way or another.

I think mostly truly exceptional candidates on the democrat side are probably waiting in the wings until trump reaches his term limit. Challenging a popular incumbent in a good economy is notoriously difficult.
