Should I bottom water my shoeboxes?

I spawned about 4 shoeboxes on 8/20, and they're about 90% to full colonization, but I left a fan running in the same room (Across the room and point away from my grow), and it dried the crap out of 2 of the 4. The sub has completely separated from the walls of my shoeboxes, and now, I'm seeing a corner separate on a 3rd shoebox.

I've been monitoring and misting as needed and also turned off my fan, but I'm wondering if I'll need to bottom water those two shoeboxes? Or do I let them grow as is for the first flush and dunk them for the second?

You can also see a good amount of bluing for how much it's getting dried out.

Don't bottom water. Continue keeping a glistening surface & dunk after first flush.

I took the lid off to take a picture? IDK why everyone here assumes the worst, but my boxes have a lot of condensation, and I couldn't get a good shot without popping off the lid.

I've been misting the shit out them since I noticed they were dry, and I feel like they need a good misting every two hours. It's weird because I live in a very humid area.

I wasn't assuming. I meant it more as a question man. You said you had the fan on and they were drying out. So I just thought I would ask. I've just seen a lot of people make mistakes is all.

Trying to help? Not belittle. Spray them well & pop the lid on. They'll fruit. You'll drive yourself crazy managing them all day long . They grow in far less ideal conditions. Just let them do their thing with minimal interference. Good little misting in the morning and at night.

Indeed..  once you get them "dialed in". 
I like the Top soak method..  works great for me.


shoeboxes are set and forget, IME.

Sorry, man. I'm cranky in the mornings. Thank you for your input. I still had to mist them 2 more times today after this morning. Once when I came home for lunch, and again after I got off of work. I have no idea why they're drying out so bad. Like I said, I live in a humid place, but also, my coir was super wet after doing the bucket tek, so I'm just stumped. I guess running a box fan for 5 days while I was away dried them out enough to where they're just sucking up all the moisture from my misting.

You're definitely right, I could drive myself crazy keeping up with it hahah. I'll keep checking when I have time. I'm only only running 7 shoeboxes and 1 unmodified tub at the moment, and 3 of the shoeboxes are already pinning, so it's not too much trouble.

Do you have any links for the Top Soak method? Not getting any hits in search and curious to read about it


Question for anyone still reading: does the sub normally pull of the wall around full colonization? I'm starting to see this on my monotub which has been the least dry of all of my tubs
