Sarah Silverman confirmed on the most recent episode of “The Bill Simmons Podcast” that she was recently fired off a movie because she appeared in blackface during a 2007 episode of her Comedy Central series “The Sarah Silverman Program.”



Has political correctness gone too far?

Seems fair to me.  If a person is going to choose a career that requires public approval, he/she should know that he/she has to earn that approval and can lose that approval.

I believe Silverman is a PC person herself. It's all fun and games to ruin other people's lives with this PC nonsense, never thinking it could affect you at some point.

When PC finally affects them, they get a whole new perspective on how this movement is perverse and unethical in nature.

I did watch some of it, since when is a parody of anything that might not be PC become politically incorrect?  This is insanity.

Sarah Silverman is a political progressive. Her comedy is as far from politically correct as it could possibly be.

This is the first joke I remember from her. "You know, I really think if there were black people around during the holocaust, there wouldn't have been a holocaust.....I mean not to the Jews"

Here's another one. "I feel so conflicted because I was raped by a doctor" If you don't get the joke remember she's Jewish.

So much for trying to equate lefty with PC.

Exactly. She made choices specifically designed to be edgy and offensive. She knew that would narrow her audience appeal. This is the product of that choice.

Precisely. She has mellowed out a little over the years and regrets some of the things in her act that offended some people, but she realizes that offensive humor, and the ironic way she delivers it, is one of her greatest professional qualities that accepts that it narrows her audience. The last cable standup special she did was purposely shot in a theater that held less than 200 people.

I never missed an episode. I was into her sister Laura.

I don't think the show was particularly edgy compared to her standup.

There's a recurring theme of white passing Jews wearing black face going back to the start of black face.

Black people should start wearing Jew face with curls, a little hat, and a big fake crooked nose. Since it's all "just a joke guise". The same people in this thread that think it's fine for Jews to racially mock blacks would be crying "anti-semetic in a heartbeat.
