Americans fired first shot in WW2?

yeah,, it seems so,, I guess, in all the mainstream papers today, they talk about a small submarine being found by the Hawaiian University, I hav'ent got into all the details, but they say it proves that americans attacked first, that this sub was sunk by ameircans before pearl harbor,, I guess they will have to do an all new movie about pearl harbor.

hmmmm..that's the first I've heard of it, but how does it prove they attacked first?

I don't know, it was in the mainstream papers, and I'm saving my 50 cents to call this japanese producer,, I was just putting this out there, so maybe the details can come together, if I get lazy enought I might actually do some research, but the papers say that this proves americans attacked first,, maybe they got it from the ships log?? Pearl Harbor was Dec 8th? this says the submarine was attacked Dec. 7.

Supposedly the Americans were aware of the impending attack and decided to allow it to happen, in order to have an excuse to go to war. Evidence for this includes the convenient lack of any carriers in port the day of the attack (out on recently, to the time of the event, ordered 'training missions') and the broken Japanese codes. We wanted an excuse to go to war, the country needed it.. all they needed was an excuse.. hmm seem familiar? 9/11 and the apparant level of awareness dick'n bush had..

I heard a teaser on it on the nightly news but didnt watch the report... Their is rumor going around that the US did attack first..

Rumor also has it that Russians were assembleing subs in Canada near the great lakes and these subs were pointing their missiles at the US... Suposed to be a few russian subs found in the great lakes durring some time in history... (something I read in Maxim)

Well, the americans needed an excuse to go to war because it looked like Japan was going to become dominant in south east asia - an area the americans desperately wanted economic control of. (hence korea, vietnam, cambodia etc) They all but begged the Japanese to attack Pearl Harbour.

Interesting that they wern't so gung-ho against Hitler. If Hitler hadn't declared war on the americans it's questionable whether america would have ever become involved.

Sounds unlikely... the great lakes aren't even connected to any oceans. They're freshwater.
