WOAH WOAH WOAH HEY THAT'S TOO FAR!

Many of my investments rely on prison labor, and a few of my investments rely directly on government contracts for private prisons. There's a lot of value generated by putting someone in prison, because the taxpayer pays to keep them alive but investors like me reap the benefits. And I like it.

What part?

If you have a 401k, chances are you're invested in private prison labor. If you've got a vanguard product in your portfolio, which is IIRC the most popular investment company, you've got private prisons in your portfolio.

(inaccurate numbers used for demonstration only below)

So, if a private prison takes a 20$ contract to keep a prisoner for a year, they spent 18$ on keeping that prisoner alive, and then extract 2$ of labor from that prisoner using forced work laws that are routinely passed, then the company just made 4$ and you get a cut of it in terms of stock price. Or dividends, if you're picky about companies.

Then the company just needs to find that sweet spot balance between minimal living conditions and maximal labor extraction to keep prisoners working but not rioting, and you can also make a profit off people going to jail.

i have none of that.

fuck you for profiting off of slave labor, and especially for gloating about it.

i truly hope you end up in a prison, so you can profit from your suffering, or wind up hanging from a lamppost.

I'm a capitalist, which means that profit is the most important thing in my life. So yeah, of course I'm gonna profit off some poor kid spending a decade in prison for a joint.

What are you, a socialist? LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT! 'MURICA!

Hehe, Iran's becoming a player.

As long as they're smart about it, they become a world power. Just like NK, the latest officially nuclear nation.

At the same time, they're making pretty clearly political plays.

NK is pretty damn far from a world power :lolsy:

What have nuclear weapons truly gained them? There is nothing the world can give them under threat that will bring actual prosperity at this point - only the transformation/dissolution of their total shit government will do that.

Iran on the other hand, stands to make a direct profit from being "threatening" and disrupting oil trade. The less 'certainty' in the supply - the higher the price.

They're a regional power, similarish to Pakistan and Saudi Arabia - but also very far from something more.

Yeah, funny thing about that dark spot on the map. When they say "Hey, POTUS, Come visit us!" instead of POTUS laughing like you do, he gets AF1 fueled up on double time.

That's called power. When NK says "jump" and POTUS says "How high?"

Iran's power is regional until they build a nuke. Then they can start swinging their dick hard enough to make POTUS jump.

Remind me then; what has that solidly gained NK? Has their GDP gone up? Can they fuel their vehicles, grow food and afford electricity?

The ability to command the attention of the most vapid American that will spend his day going insult for insult with a middle school librarian? :lolsy:

Iran can play that game too, all they want - it won't gain them much - militaristic antagonism is the natural politics of an autocratic government - it's about staying in power. Somehow I'm guessing if they were to be very serious, Israel's trigger finger is a little edgier than US'

Look at Russia - all of the nukes in the world, and so they may sometimes have been inclined to think "Ok - no one will attack us, so we'll take a little liberty" *Annexes Crimea* *gets slapped with a boatload of sanctions that sees their GDP nearly drop by 40% in a handful of years. *

People can "Dick swing" all they fucking want. Maybe it makes idiots watching the news gape their mouths and feel afraid, but if you don't have the economic clout to back it up in this era - it's beyond meaningless. An embargo or sanctions from a nation like the US or China means vastly more than 5000 nukes. Unless you're a completely suicidal nation - and when you RP that - surprisingly no one wants to do business with you :lolsy:

NK has gained world standing, as well as less sanctions.

By the way, what Russian sanctions over Crimea are you talking about? The ones that donald specifically did not enforce? Because they haven't been enforced since 2016.

I think it will do the same exact thing for Iran. No more sanctions. They don;t really need anything else, that's already a victory. "POTUS DROPS SANCTIONS OVER NUKE" sounds like a damn good headline.

The sanctions that still have the Russian GDP 800 billion down from when they were enforced in 2014, no big deal just 800 billion$ down & 30+% of their GDP :smilingpuppy:

Once again, that's all ephemeral bullshit. "world standing" Is meaningless, You know why they did it? So like 50-100 people in their country can continue to live in luxury with reduced threat of intervention

You think a country with 1/50th the gdp as a single American corporation has "world standing"

Uh oh world, look out - here comes dat NK in tight economic competition with the tribesmen of Papua New Guinea and (ex)Mugabe's trillion-dollar-bill Zimbabwe
(That's per capita on the right and next to it is total gdp in millions $)

I like how your graph of Russian GDP conveniently cuts off right after that post-2016 sharp increase. Yeah, no, the sanctions worked. Between 2014-2016. Then they stopped working, because they were no longer enforced. Because rea$on$. Kentucky is gonna have a nice new shiny aluminum mine, though!owned by Russia

Now chart the NK GDP, especially after their sanctions got lifted. Their leader does, after all, have a "beautiful vision" for their country, and only POTUS can help make it happen.

Oh, and now chart US GDP, then GDP per capita.

Oh boy they're really killing it  I wonder if they passed Zimbabwe

Here's the amazing skyrocketing Russian GDP

Annnnd the US, which gains almost the entire value of the RUS gdp every year

Did you even check any of this stuff or just assume you were right?
Go ahead and do the GDP/Capita yourself, RUS & NK struggle to register a 1/5th and a 50th respectively

So, based on your charts (except the laughably stupid forecast), it appears that NK and Russia have been doing pretty well since they started their shenanigans. Sure, some of those Obama-era sanctions might have hurt, but we got that fixed up nice. Also, that forecast. Damn, I love that. Expecting Russian GDP to drop to zero by 2021...damn, that's some prime reporting. *checks watch* in two years, Russia is expected to cease to exist?

So, yeah. Seems to me that having a nuke helps GDP, under the current administration. Gotta love dear donnie.

Actually, Russia was technically in a recession 2014-2016. And, also, technically, they are no longer in a recession, as of first quarter 2017.

It's just the sum of the statistical trend - not the logical one

"Pretty well" ?? lmao
I'm not really sure you understand at all massive of a blow 30% of the GDP is, seeing as you're trying to play it off like this is a good thing. The US economy didn't even dip that much during the great depression.

And NK the other "doing pretty well" country actually got overtaken by Zimbabwe - who they were beating out in the older statistics. You know your economy has a fucking major problem when Zimbabwe is showing you up

So again.... how have nukes been beneficial to the NK economy?

I'm not seeing a 30% blow to GDP, unless you mean the Obama sanctions, which have been reversed, leading to what appears to me a near-full recovery.

As for NK, well, they don't really need economic growth. They've shown that. They can make POTUS bend the knee by launching a few rockets.

Do the math then  do I really need to hold your hand through this? The so called bounce back - remains 28% lower than their GDP just a few years earlier. (1657/2297) - The maximal dip was 45% of their GDP.
There would be an uprising in the US if our economy got crushed that bad.

And? What came of that? NK is still under US sanctions regardless of whatever the idiot pres said or did

I was saying that prison is not a great investment in a person.  Here in Ohio, they vastly reduced schools and are wanting more jails.

That's the point of me saying, you get out what you put in.  I don't think retarded religious philosophy that GOP pushes is going to invest in people who are more complex than 3 year olds.

A huge issue is we do not know what life is like in the Universe.  We don't know where our society stands.  Nor do we know what universal rights for living beings are.

Being left to our own devices has been horrible for man kind.

Well, less sanctions than before, but yes. Oh yeah, we've been going easier and easier on NK. Remember that one summit last year? Came with a coin and shit.

I want my country, the Kingdom of Holland, to become a nuclear power.

The deterrent function is nice, and motivating, but being a nuclear power makes it that at once the biggest economic powers of the world take you more seriously all of a sudden.

That actively stimulates the economy. We get diplomatic access on the world stage, since we are a nuclear power, yet NATO member and not a rogue nation.

Europe just lost a nuclear power, Britain, so Holland should step up to the plate and become one ourselves. We have the plutonium, we have the technology and the infrastructure. Let's treat the Royal Dutch Air Force to some tactical nuclear glider nukes in the low kiloton range to strap under our jets.

Holland should go nuclear. :rainbowcloud:
