We'll be in the middle east until the end of time. If it wasn't us, it'd be Russia or China, so it might as well be us. That's just a fucked up region of the world. I doubt it'll be any less fucked up in 100 years than it is today, and unless we stay over there they'll just end up attacking us and other western countries over and over again.

Maybe we should invade Iran and all the other crappy middle east countries and establish our own little shitty empire like the English had back in the day, but shittier. Hell, North Korea and Cuba too, and annex mexico and canada while we're at it. Why not the whole of north and south America and everything else we can lay our hands on? I dunno, I'm just kidding. The world is a fucked up place.

In terms of our control of afghanistan, if we put more troops over there again we'd take back control of 100% of the country, but no one has the stomach for that. It's less a matter of military might, and more a matter of the fact that no one wants to be involved over there anymore.

Frankly, I like Trump's current foreign policy a lot. I think we should probably just get the hell out of 99% of places in the world and let other countries pick up the slack if they want to. Have them pay for the protection we provide and just don't provide it if they don't want to pay for it. We shouldn't even be in places like Japan, South Korea, Germany, and dozens of other countries where we have massive military bases. We don't need these for any strategic reasons and they're just a massive waste of time, money, and resources.

That would free up enough resources so that if Iran or North Korea or anyone else actually attacked us we could totally obliterate them without even blinking. Not to mention all the money we'd save and be able to put into better equipment, military R&D, domestic programs, etc. etc.

But on the other hand, maybe we should control a fuckton of the world and assert our dominance and power. There's no good options, really. The world is fucked.

I get tired of the national debt and human cost of going to war of trivial point making.  It's really very small shit that a lot is lost trying to overcome.

Kinda like the national prison system.  We rarely get more out of life, than we invest (in quality and kind).
