Is it due to people giving up? Every day I read a new article talking about global warming, over population, corrupt politics, and so on and so forth.

I understand that shit has always been fucked off, but not like this...

The scary part is I read an article last week with a warning. They stated that this mass attacks will happen more often than not and sure enough...

Fuck, in the past week... I literally just read about the cali guy who ran around stabbing mother fuckers.

Can we blame the hate on trump with a little bit of GTA?

It's extremely disheartening and scary.

It won't, however, keep me from living my life, BUT that thought will always be in the back of my mind.

I miss the 90s.

The world is in INCREASING confusion as it dawns on us that fuck yes we DID hit an iceberg and WE ARE sinking.

Will we cling onto the old and go down with the ship or leap towards the New Vessel that will take a number of us to tomorrow?

Grab onto it with hands and feet when the New Vessel emerges in your personal life, and raise awareness about just what goes on in the world.

I agree. I think that historically this time will be a blip on the radar, even though it will be most of our lives as individuals. We have had transitions such as these before. Hell the Spanish Inquisition lasted 300 years and not long after it was abolished we saw the industrial revolution begin. An age of starting the process of believing in science and human rights.

IMO, it's going to get a lot fucking worse before it gets better. Like miniature apocalypse worse. People will look back and think, wow what an interesting time to be alive. But right now most of us would take less interesting for some peace and reason

Except you may be wrong. Most data suggest violent crime has decreased since the 90s.

What has actually happened is the emergence of social media and a decline by the mainstream media. In 2019, its much more likely that isolated events are hyped up and reported. This makes it feel like "people in general are losing their shit" when it's actually getting better.

My American friends, I am not deeply educated in politics or social matters but from what I gather from mainstream news, my own experience of my own Western country - Australia - and my own faculty of reason, the United States is the pinnacle of Western civilization which is now in steady decline and the United States is collapsing the fastest of all Western nations. $20+ trillion in debt, cookie cutter reality TV show host at your helm, your own government security organisations conspire against you (World Trade Center), the sheer majority of wealth in the top 1% of society and everyone is conditioned not to care, runaway racial issues, increasingly banal and valueless, aimless and hedonistic mass produced and mass indoctrinated popular culture, runaway murder statistics, military dominance of the entire globe and you are conditioned not to care, mass shootings with increasing frequency not declining frequency... If you don't step outside tomorrow and decide to start to make social changes, or at least change yourself (you have a choice there) into something beautiful and enlightened and free that sets an example, you are just spiralling down into total economic and social collapse, civil war and martial law.

Australia is in a somewhat similar state, we have the foundations set for the collapse you are now experiencing. If you go into Melbourne you will just find droves of depressed and self-absorbed people, clique after clique with disregard for any notion of compassion or humanism, self-absorbed suits, mentally ill homeless, trash everywhere, and a general sense of aimlessness in everyone you meet, everywhere you look, yet who think they are on the quest for some Australian dream and will snob you. All this and Melbourne has been voted the World's Most Livable City two or three times running by some relevant body, I forget which.

I am going to see if I can never go back to Melbourne ever again, and live an exceptional life.

First, they implemented a lot more 'harsh on crime' laws in the 90s.  The 3 strikes your out.

As well as today people are losing their shit 9-11 style.  Just going full retard.

It's not so easily as 'do something'.  There's not much direction to input.  Anything too different and it's seen as radical.  It's seen as subversive.  Look at what happened to the hippies in the 1960s.  Lot's of those folks ended up on watch lists and prison.

No, but violent crime and other types appear to be.

The approach to public health should be objective and based on science and fact, not emotion. Generally speaking, I'm pro gun control. However, as someone with extensive experience in public health, a better approach might be to take a step back and ask ourselves "What are the biggest causes of harm to the public?" and whether there are areas of "low hanging fruit" where minuscule public health interventions can result in large gains in quality of life etc.
