Hello everyone,

I am from Italy, I like dogs, I play guitar, and I am lazy. I love nature and this new "hobby".
I've dedicated my life so far to research of knowledge...of myself and "reality".
I've seen there are dedicated section on mental health and mental issues prevention.
I am a therapist, so feel free as you need and If you feel it could help to ask whatever you want about that. Consider that my occasion to contribute to the forum so far.

Nice guess! It's a pretty famous kind of p.therapy...I can say that it was born in the full psychedelic era, and has a very transpersonal and humanistic approach. I don't want to unfold me so quickly cause I'm a shy guy. JK... I'm just trying to figure out how much I can trust talking around...without seeing  coming rollers catching me everywhere

Yeah I have a nice lazy doggie and it's love and fun!
I got a master's degree in clinical psychology and then I got the training in Gestalt psychotherapy. Ever heard about it? Do you know Claudio Naranjo? :wink:
I'm getting another degree soon on working with breathing to unlock emotions in a more physical way...cant get enough exploring this stuff.
AND I would love to make some experiments, like the ones are making in MAPS and Imperial College...but here in Italy we do suck in this. Gotta find a way alone.

Yes, Gestalt psychotherapy is very intriguing to me.

I believe I would find this therapy hard with someone who has c-ptsd or borderline.... Someone with childhood abuse because you would think it is hard to process the present without fully processing the past.

Do you work with consumers that have severe behavioral issues as well? For example, my kids dad has BPD but he literally cannot process the present moment.  He is always in the past or always in the future, any forms of therapy I have tried to incorporate to bring him to the present in our own conversations always leads to anger and violence... almost as if trying to process the present is a trigger in itself because when the abuse occurred he would obviously dissociate to somewhere else.

Never heard of Claudio Naranjo, but from a basic read... knowing where he is from and the intense amount of spiritual retreats available in those areas I am not surprised he is trying to integrate psychiatry and spirituality.

Is this the typical mainstream psychiatric study over in Italy?

We over here in the states seem to be growing up from a Freudian psychotherapy perspective into an Erikson/Pavlov perspective (Applied Behavioral Analysis)...

Granted every individual practitioner has their own way but it seems that traditional studies are shifting.

Also, ever considered relocating from Italy?

I do not know the laws for practice there at all, do you have the ability to have your waivers take away liability there or are psychedelics  too illegal to be considered for treatment?

Well, thinking that you need to work ONLY about the present is a common misconception of the Gestalt Therapy. The point is not to work only with something that belongs to the present. The point is working with everything you want IN the present. PSTD, as you mentioned...is "just" a traumatic experience that intrusively asks for attention IN the present...and asks to be closed. You can't go in the past and change what happened, and I hope you agree in that, but you can work it out and close it in the present, giving the organism the response hadn't in the past.
The point is...that you work with flow of consciousness instead of making a structured assessment of your past life in search of issues and abreactions...you let the body decide what to work with. Hope I explained myself.
Unfortunally in here Behaviourism and in general more cognitive therapy are more popular. I think cause they are less frightening :smile:...even though working on the syntoms is less functional IME.
Human body is wise, you just let it do the whole job

Here we are light-years far from what is happening in there (Denver/Oackland :heart:)
I don't know how many years we need to change the perception about these medicines in here.
Actually though what you are making there is opening the path for the whole world...and I feel to thank you guys for that. If I could...I would move there. But here food is so much better.

Its weird to think European countries like Italy are more restrictive on drugs when they are more liberal in other areas in the culture.

I'm not so much into political science...but I get your concerns.
In Italy drugs are widely used, mainly offered by criminal organisation. The point is that some drugs are more "politically correct" than others (especially the potentially therapeutic ones), due basically to ignorance and a catholic bigot way of dealing with society and social progress. Second, Italians and Italian politics are basically...hypocrits. They do nasty but they talk polite.

Oh DEAR...

it won't surprise you...but manicotti (I guess barilla) don't even exist in here. They're a marketing hybrid between CANNELLONI (literally big rod/barrell...guess that's why they changed name) and PENNETTE RIGATE. Cannelloni are generally stuffed with ricotta and spinaci and drowned with sugo (pummarola) and parmigiano, either with ragù instead. _DEAD_
Barilla is pretty famous here...but its like the macdonald of pasta...there are plenty way better.
I would make you guys some pasta TEK, as you prefer; if you dare to ask! :laugh:
