My noob appreciation and happiness ratio to butthurt noobs is really good. For every hundred ratings and couple dozen thank you PMs someone is butthurt that i said their method is bad and their grow kit is contaminated and my meanness turned them off to the site. Those people complain loud. Some people would require literally hand holding and never saying they did anything wrong.

It doesn't bother me that we can't help a few people when the vast majority of noobs use this amazing resource to post pictures of their first grow within their first few posts.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I feel like there'd be more traffic if some of the subforums got merged with the pub.

Gaming, sports, great outdoors, DIY,  science/tech, music/arts etc.

I often have things I'd post in the pub but they realistically belong in a different sub, but I don't feel like wasting the time to post when I know there'll be few to no responses and very few views in the deader subs.

Kinda the same with the trip reports section in The Psychedelic Experience.

I don’t like that idea because the way it’s set up now you can post pretty much any topic in the pub and everyone knows where it is while if one were to want to get deeper into some specialized category they can post in the specific forum and not clog up the pub.  There’s enough roads to not cause a traffic jam.

Plus not having those extra subforums is one thing that I think is contributing to the Growery being as slow as it is.  It has no subforums like we do here so it’s pretty much weed or nothing.  I like how the Shroomery is set up, it’s done better than most other forums I’ve been on.  It has good balance.

I agree with amanita....would you rather wait a while for 1 amazing on point reaponse or immidiately get asked how many bong ripz you can do?

I’m saying the other subforums allow for more specialized convo that would clog/dilute the flow of the pub because the more specialized you get the less heads you’re likely to find that are into it.  So for more generalized convo the pub is fine but if you want to start splitting atoms within a subject you can kinda step into another room and get down to the nitty gritty and not be in the way of others who aren’t interested in the pub.

I see what you're saying, but for me at least the seperate subs are more harm than good.

I spend most of my time (outside of work) in the outdoors, cooking, playing sports, listening to music. I can't even remember the last time I specifically went to one of those subs though, I only catch a thread in there once a month or so when it pops up on my Active Topics tabs. I only check 3 or 4 subs and even that takes up a ton of time, but at least in those forums I know I'm likely to get a response or read something new.

I can see what you're saying though, things could get buried with one busy forum and shitposts are far more likely. I just think things are slow enough right now that it probably wouldn't be so bad, and the topics from the subs could get more attention.

Maybe people got what they wanted out of it and moved on with their lives?

The tempo of drug use fluctuates when you’re a socially functioning human being. As opposed to the addict, a functional user prioritizes any number of real life concerns over their use.

I imagine there’s a sizable number of people on this site who quit drugs and found other groups and interests.

Which isn’t to say that all regular, longtime members are drug addicts or anything. It just seems likely that drug use is the main reason many people join in the first place, and once other concerns start taking precedence over a person’s life they no longer have a need for a group who’s predominant interest is inebriation
