Chlorophyllum is what I'm thinking,  looks like I see some green on the gills in the last picture.

Chlorophyllum molybdites, which is very rare in Europe.

If you found this outside in Europe,  it is extremely rare and maybe the 1st outdoor specimen to be found.  All Chlorophyllum molybdites that have been found in Europe, have all been in greenhouses or other indoor areas (to the best of my knowledge).

Those are all in the past month, this is fascinating news to me and another great example of mushrooms having no borders. All the European parasol hunters will have to be extra careful now. I'm <try þvbcurious if we will see a spike in poisonings due to this escaping onto the continent, they never had to worry about it before now.

I wonder is this anything to do with the weather we had in Europe over the last year? I remember this time last year it was into the high 80s every day and almost into the 90s some days here in Ireland and it was like that the whole summer, which is very unusual for Ireland, it was more like a Mediterranean summer. And not only that, we literally had no winter! It just seemed to go from autumn to spring over night!

Yes, global warming is forcing tropical species north.  In a couple years, people in the USA and Europe won't even be able to walk outside without stepping on Psilocybe zapotecorum.

I don't know, I'm not convinced about global warming, yes last year it was hot, but this year it's just pleasantly warm so far, pretty much average for the time of year, but in 2010/2011 we had the coldest winter on record, it froze for months on end and we even had snow blizzards in May! Where was global warming that year? Still though, I hope you're right about not being able to walk outside without finding Psilocybe zapotecorum! :lol:

Global warming is real, I just don't accept the reasons being given,  temperatures have fluctuated globally since the beginning of time.

The spread of Chlorophyllum is directly related to higher temperatures on the European continent. The cold temperatures have kept this Genus from taking hold on the continent in the wild,  greenhouses and enclosures that have swimming pools were the only places where they were found on the continent, until this year.

I mean, human activities have put a shitload of carbon dioxide, methane, CFCs, and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere :shrug: This massive input causes warming which helps to melt permafrost in the tundra, causing further release of gases like CO2 and methane.

It could just be coincidence that the Earth is warming at the same time we're increasing GHG's, but no one has managed to give any kind of convincing reason as to why else this is happening.
