mushies will fruit in anything if given proper conditions. ive fruited oysters in an old workboot before. that container will work fine if you give them what they need, but its not a monotub, a monotub refers to a tub designed to provide optimal conditions

I'm telling you guys, I can not afford a 5-10 dollars tote at this point or clear sterlite :frown: , so I'll have to take tips and make it work with what I got. got no choice but to try with this setup. Gonna spawn to bulk today so...
I'll let it colonize for some 10 days and for the fruiting stage I'll introduce light from above the lid and fae throu the holes

I already spent some savings on this hobby and I already spent it on a tote and did spawn to that.
but now i have a couple more jars which i want to spawn and got this change tray, tub (whatever its called) for it.
so, I've already covered all the steps here. gathering the mycelium, sterilizing stuff, transferring to jars, making agar petri dishes, getting the coco coir and coarse vermiculite and etc... despite their rarity around here.
I'm not living in USA either, so things are kinda different around here (prices, values among other things).
even tho its not the best hobby under these circumstances, I still wish to try my best for this hobby cuz i love it.

I hear you loud and clear. You can make this work. Just fix the holes like I said earlier, make a window for light and use some paper clips or a coat hanger as clamps to hold the two buckets together. Don't worry about a gasket. Keep us updated on your results. I love to see something out of nothing.

Sometimes when im downtown on trash pickup nights I see those big clear jugs thatfryer  oil comes in. they are the same size as a gas can. I think about fruiting cubes in them every time I see one. No offence but there are loads of clear containers you could find in the trash that would work better than that....unless you have a sgfc no sort of tray will work well. you’d be better off finding something lidded.

Thanks for your support, It means something to me.
So far, I've taped the buckets in and out together and taped the holes.
made two holes a bit above and micropored them.
I pollyfilled the two big holes on the upper lid and cross duct taped the huge window i made on the top lid (for light) in a way that air wouldnt get in or out.
and for fruiting im gonna add two more holes to the bottom and put an ambient light over the duct tapes.
I'll be posting pictures for you
