Monotub FAE

yesterday i finished completing my first monotub- took a while to make. I used 16 half pints of BPK to 80/20 coir/coffee gypsum, pH adjusted. It is an 18-gallon sterlite plastic tub, with roughly 3-4 inches of sub.

My fear is for my FAE. I cut two 2inch holes on the long sides, just above my bulk layer. Then i cut one 2inch hole on each short side, along the top. The tub had to be hid under a bed in a corner- there is an a/c unit blowing right next to the bed, but its not direct- and there are boxes around the tub to conceal it.

How am i supposed to know if i am getting good FAE?

That's what the holes are for is FAE. If you stuffed them with pollyfill that is. Ir whatever it's called.

And as long as nothing is blowing directly on your tub you won't dry it out. It is recommended that you elevate your tub a bit because CO2 is heavier and when it leaves the tub it will fall and fresh air should be coming in from the holes you drilled at the top.

I have a sweet mono going right now. I've noticed because I am using Hpoo I'm actually opening it 2 or 3 times a day and fanning. The humidity and heat were extrememly high because of the Hpoo. I can stick my hand in the tub and feel the heat so I keep it cool now.

You don't want your tub above 79 degrees is what I have been reading.

Good luck on your tub, looking forward to some results. I will be posting more pics in a few days, I just started getting tiny pin heads.

Also, your next tub will take less time to construct. Once you get the hang of it your golden.

You shouldn't be getting high heat temps like me, your using coir. Did you pasteurize your substrate before spawning to it?

Oh yeah, i pasturized it all at ~150-165 for 90 minutes.

I guess i just gotta hope my holes will do the job, sounds like they're doing- eh.

as i pray for a canopy of Ban Phang Ka...:headbang:
