First time growing Monotub - 30 gallons too much?

i was going for a 1:3 ratio. I'd need like 20 quarts of spawn and 60 quarts of substrate for 30 gallon monotub (sterlite)!!??

That dosent sound right Thats 20 gal total which is 2/3 of your tub. Most of the teks ive read say 5 inches. Search for spawn calculator there are several of them on this board and they work well.
