Buying Used Equipment POLICE?

I am been stalking for awhile here. Learned a ton of stuff with out asking one quest (amazing what the search function can do for you :smirk:) Done one successful grow and looking at doing another.

I bought my pressure cooker from someone on craigslist and when he asked what I was using it for I told him mushrooms (not talking about any strains). He said that is also what he did and was looking at selling the rest of his equipment and supplies. A flowhood being one of these things. Also said he has prints and such, but i never talked to him about that. The thing that made me a little uneasy was the guys was carrying a gun. He had it concealed in his waistband. The states carry permits are very lax here so it doesn't surprise me that much, but threw me off.

I was wondering every ones thought on buying used supplies and the possibility of it being the police? Im in no way a major operation of any sort... just trying to get some equipment on the cheap.

Any thoughts would be helpful :confused:

Why not? its not illegal.

I knew he had other stuff for sale because of other listings he had (vacuum sealer, dehydrator). I just wanted to see what all he had.

Def not unusual at all especially if you are in a 2A friendly state. You can conceal carry here with no permit and I have done this a few times when meeting randoms on CL and OfferUp. It would be fruitless for police to wait for someone to buy a pressure cooker to bust them for growing mushrooms lol. Reminds me of the failed fast and furious thing with guns and cartels. Growing gourmet mushrooms is not illegal. Pressure cookers are notorious for making bombs so maybe he was curious.

Seems a bit of an elaborate sting to me as well. They would have to build enough of a case enough to get warrant to then find out I am growing gourmet mushrooms :shocked:

Yeah the police fishing expedition thing doesn't seem especially likely. But I think you were right to think that this meetup could have been a bad risk in some way.

Even if the guy you bought from was the police it wouldn't matter unless you told him you're growing drugs.
Say you're growing mushrooms. He offers prints. Those prints are psychedelic. Then you say oh no thanks not those kinds. Prints are legal but intent to use them isn't. But no cop is doing a Craigslist sting with a pressure cooker because even when people are caught with shrooms nothing usually happens but a slap on the wrist. People get in more trouble for weed in every case ive ever seen or heard of when people got in trouble and also had mushrooms found

Look even if the guy isnt an informer he might still be WATCHED by the cops because you don't know what hes done or where he's been.

Lol they don't got time for that. They don't even watch convicted felons. I know multiple people with multiple felonies they still grow and sell drugs they're not watched there are no resources for that.
