Local store sold me a bad pressure cooker!

Last month I bought a pressure cooker from a local store for almost $90. The safety seal on it went bad and it will not hold pressure, and the store said I can't take it back or exchange it without a receipt (it is just a shitty store in town). I might be able to fix the seal or replace it, but it is still fucked up I have too.
I thought about filing a complaint with the BBB. I might just go buy another one once the owner leaves, try to exchange it, and if they wouldn't let me exchange it, just file a charge back with my credit card company. I might just go in and walk out of the store with the damn thing, but that seems the hardest to justify if it comes back on me. Worst part is I wanted to make poop bags, and now I have to wait around.
Any ideas on how to get even, or more than even with them? I don't think they have camera's, I could go steal a bunch of shit, but not a pressure cooker, which is the only thing I want out of that place. I'd also like to get this issue straightened out before I just blatantly steal from or vandalize it.

Well if you don't have the receipt...why do you want to "get even" with the store?

Because the thing wasn't even a month old. The point of a reciept is to prove the item was bought there, not weasel out of exchanging a product. The store only got these things in stock a month a ago, they know damn well I bought it there and when I bought it, because it is that small of a store. It isn't even like they take a loss, they just send it to the manafacturer who replaces it, since they were the one who made the defective thing.

sounds like some real douche bag runs the place. I would just go buy another pressure cooker from them, stick the old one in the new box and take it back to get your money back with your new recipt.
You could say somthing along the lines "This is the 2nd i have bought and even its a piece of crap i just want my money back." I hate people who dont practice good business.
Or you could just take the pressure cooker and smack the store owner with it. Both work imo

Then do this:

As someone who has worked in a small store, I can kind of understand their stance on this...maybe their supplier won't take back a product unless it's accompanied by receipt. If you get one, they shouldn't have any problem of getting it back.
Plus, you won't be risking police intervention for something so silly

If the store was cool, they would give a new PC and take the old one back, sending it to the vendor and saying we need a replacement for this faulty POS.

Problem is that I paid for it in cash.
I think the best plan is to just go in there tonight, open up a new one and steal the lid. This will cost the store a little money (not a lot, based off wholesale price and saves them in taxes) and get me pressure cooking by tommorrow.

and make you a thief in the process. For fucks sake, did you even listen to any of the advice in this thread? There are a lot of ways to get your PC fixed without having to resort to stealing. Have you even considered calling up the PC manufacturer to see if they'll replace your seal?

I don't understand why you're upset, you don't have the receipt, sounds like your fault to me.
If you have a UPC then contact the people who make the PC and see if they can help you out.

It isn't the seal around the lid, it is the seal around the over pressure valve - the small rubber one on top that is supposed to release pressure if the cooker is in danger of exploding.
I tried calling the Mirro company but couldn't get a hold of them.

These two steps prevent a lot of problems in life:
1. Save all your receipts for everything. 2. Put them in envelopes, one for each month of each year.
Sounds like you prefer to solve your problems with stealing and vandalism though, so you'll probably ignore that.

I would if I could, but it needs to be able to hold back 15 PSI.
I could replace it for $5 but would have to order it online and wait (shame they don't just carry that).

Really? Mine don't. Maybe stop leaving them on your windowsill.
Just yesterday I came across the receipt for Tomb Raider for PS1.

I thought mine was fucked up at first, then I figured out that in order to start building up pressure, i had to have the highest temperature on the burner until the release valve sealed up and then i could turn the temperature down to 5 or 6. If you havent already tried, try that.

I agree with Brainiac. The problem is not really the retailer. You just bought a poor quality product. You need to take it up with the manufacturer.
