Brown discolouration on various Trich cacti?
    #25983231 -

I saw a good deal on three cacti cuttings, so I grabbed them. But now that I've got them I notice the seller's images hid the brown discolouration on one side of each cactus from the camera.

"Peruvian Torch"

This shows what looks to be a pup, I think?

"Bolivian Torch"

What are these little knobs poking out?

"San Pedro"

Admittedly the San Pedro one isn't as bad. But does anyone have an idea as to what would have caused it, and how I might avoid it in the future?

these little knobs poking out are roots, it was laid down for a long time i guess ? the others if not gooey do not spread may not be to worry about

Agree with Ferrox, the Bolivian Torch is definitely making roots on its side, nothing to worry about. But with the Pedro and Peruvian are the patches soft to the touch?

It’s all just age related scarring. The cuts are probably from an old Trich that had some sun spots, insect damage, and the like. Any older Trich living outside will end up with spots like that at some point.

Edit: Fixed typo

The San Pedro now, interestingly enough, is the softest to touch in spots. Hopefully it toughens up.

When they’re soft it can sometimes mean to much sun or that they’re thirsty.

Just keep an eye on it. If the brown area remains soft and spreads, it's a form of infection. If not, as menrioned before, it's just a bit of scarring.

Thanks for the insight, guys. I'll continue keeping a close eye on it.
