If you are an atheist, you know that a non-spiritual word for "the totality of all things" is "The Universe" (or multiverse, but, lts settle on Universe.)

OK.

I will ask this question, please allow it to make up your mind.

You may answer whenever you want or not at all.

But, I give you a binary option, Yes/No.

There's no plan, either good or bad. It's not that the universe is uncaring, it's that the universe doesn't have the ability.

If you think the universe is out to get you, I can understand. When I was younger, it seemed like that was the case. But eventually I came to the realization that the vast majority of my "bad luck" was an indirect result of who I was hanging out with, what I was doing, and the life that I was living.

When I'm more in tune with things, I definitely feel there is some subtle benevolence at play in the universe that helps drive us towards complexity and our best selves, should we start to pursue that path.

At other times, it just feels like there is only a blind indifference to it all.

I always feel an intelligence of sorts though.

I think... that I don't even know what a thought is.

We can kinda explain it on paper, in terms of our senses and input computation in the brain.

What senses have yet to be developed though, why do we trust our current ones when neuroscience already tells us they're highly filtered, edited, hackable, etc?

Dreams can seem real, trips can seem real, reality seems real, there's no shortage of people who have said DMT feels more real than real. What other realms and levels of "real" are there?

There may not be any such thing as a self or an other. We likely don't understand any of it, and are all the more misguided for thinking we can understand it with words and thoughts, which we don't understand in the first place.

Belief is attachment, as is rejection, another form of belief in most contexts. Attachment seems to against the transient flow of nature and everything else in the universe. Maybe the answer lies exactly in the middle, somehow. Maybe it lies outside of word or thought. Maybe the question isn't even relevant, in the grand scheme of whatever this all is.
