I have a university degree (Univ of FL) but no high school diploma (GED)

Graduated with 3.8 GPA at UF but dropped out of high school at 15 and went to CC at 18 and worked my way up. Anyone else in this situation? I've never met anyone at work (all college grads) that have experienced this. I must be pretty rare.

How did you manage to get accepted to college without sending them your transcripts? (i.e. proof of graduation)

Heh, yeah I'm working towards a degree in organic chemistry at college (I'll transfer to university in a year or something), but I dropped out of high school.

You don't need to graduate in order to go to college.
I'm pretty satisfied with not graduating. I didn't bother taking shit that would be a waste of my time, and it's not limiting my career opportunities in any way.

I guess thats something I wasn't familiar with (not needing a high school degree to go to college) although I guess it makes sense.
However, most moderately respectable schools will have some form of admissions requirement. I wouldn't think UF would accept someone without a high school degree.

What about someone who was home schooled?
Or someone that didn't graduate who was in there late 20s or something? You certainly can't go back to highschool at that age... you'd be completely fucked if you couldn't get into college.

Someone like this could easily obtain a GED. Thats one of the reasons it was created.

Huh. True enough.
Well I guess I'm not too sure then. I know my college has classes for lower levels of education (grade 10, 11, 12... maybe even 9 too, and up until second year). Maybe some don't.

You dropped out of high school -- stop trying to pretend like it was a noble act that you planned all along

Wrong. I use most of the things I learned in highschool day after day in college. I also made life long friends. I'm not saying you done fucked up, but please don't try and act like you're some super fucking genius because you cheated the system.

Actually it was. I knew I didn't need to graduate so I didn't. I could have if I wanted to. But highschool is a bunch of petty stupid shit compared to post secondary.

Yeah, but you are going to get much less work then the engineer who went to Cornell or another school because they completed high school and did well.
Congrats on being mediocre, or maybe even less than that.
Directed at anyone who feels dropping out was better than staying in high school.

I understand what you're saying. I was more replying to toilet. I am, however, saying you are the exception to the rule. The majority of the population is now partaking in education after high school since we live in an economy where manufacturing is no longer a viable option for most people. I'm wishing you the best of luck but you can't admit you're a fuck up and then to say high school isn't important is completely contradictory.
