I lived for for yrs with no legit job and sold drugs for my income but I stepped down from hustling 4.5 yrs ago now I work a job that doesnt pay the best but pays the bills and funds my festivals and shows I go to throughout the yr so its enough for my happiness.
Fast money was attractive to me when I was younger but once I got to be older I knew the next time I go to prison its gonna be much longer than the first time I went for selling ecstacy and pot back in 07 and I was just tired of always looking over my shoulder not knowing if today was the day I was gonna get busted or robbed. Thankfully I got out when I did cause it only got worse for the people I use to deal with after I got out. Now almost all of them are in federal prison for dealing I think maybe one might have dodged that bullet cause he was locked up when that big sting happened.
Def thankful I'm not chasing that money anymore shit aint worth it for me but def got respect for those who do shit someones gotta do it! :wink:

I consider drug dealing a job. I've never done it because from watching my firends deal seemed like too much trouble. Trying to meetup with people all day to make $5 on each bag of weed sold and risking jail.

Then if you want to go big time you can make some bank. Especially if you can get a block/corner in an open air drug market type area. Some of these places that I walk through you literally get 5 people circling you and saying "Buddy, what do you need?" Whoever is running those guys is definitely rich. The kind of rich where you can't even find places to store all your money.

I made a decent amount of money selling herb some years back. It was a part time job, but there were times that I'd make 100 - 150 bucks profit in one single transaction deal, and I'd do like 2-3 of those a day. Basically, buy lbs and sell quaps to lower tier dealers. Did it for a couple years never got in trouble with anyone.

I started mowing lawns when I was 10 yrs. old. Worked in a kennel 7 days a week after school and weekends when I was 12 and in a factory when I turned 18. I have been out of work a total of 2 weeks between the age of 10 and 59 yrs and have been part owner of a business for the past 33 yrs. It amazes me that so many here don't work and aren't even looking for work.
Hard work was once the mantra for success in this country and it appears that the only ones who believe this today are the immigrants that come from real poverty. Pretty sad, really. I'm not trying to down anyone here, but there seems to be a whole lot more entitlement in todays young'ns than there was in my generation. People seem to be content living with their parents and off of their parents for as long as they can.:shrug::sunny::peace:

"Hard work" these days still leaves you with no room for advancement in just about every career (usually peanuts in terms of money)for pretty much anyone born after 1990. We simply cannot find anywhere to work that is worth a fuck and starting your own business has never been harder. We spend our entire education being told that college will help and that only puts people in debt. Maybe some of these old people will die off and give us their nice livable wage paying jobs but for now it's an entire generation flipping burgers.

I'm pissed because I want to work hard and have yet to find a place to put all that energy. I do seasonal landscaping for now because it's at least honest work.

Please enlighten us with this magical way to get ahead because hard work doesn't account for shit in 2019.

I'm probably out of touch and that's OK. Can you break it down for me a bit? I'm only basing my opinion on my own experiences chasing money. The only people I have seen do well at my age were born into money.

I'm employed making the most I've ever made before  (nothing incredible), but it is something

What I do (treework), is what I want to do with my own company

I've got the saws, equipment ropes slings biners rigging equipment just need to open a bank account build my credit and get a loan for a trailer n truck n maybe chipper n stump grinder eventually

This is what I mean....you count yourself out before you even try. I made $1.50 /hr. working in a kennel and around $5.00/hr. in a factory. Barely living wage and I had a kid. You all think entry level positions are beneath you, lol. That shit factory job took me to a small office billing job and then a friend of mine and I convinced a venture capitalist that we had a great idea for a business because neither of us had any savings to invest.
We owed everybody money the first few years but eventually were able to overcome it by working our asses off.....qualities that seem to be few and far between in you millennials.
Fact is, every shit job I worked ...I learned something valuable even though the pay sucked. Nothing is ever handed to anybody....Good luck with your attitude.:cryaboutit:

I think what some people consider peanuts and not much is still money coming in. A person can not start out at more than 12 bucks an hour without an associates degree at least (seems that way, I haven't researched it). Even a retail or restaurant/bar job is something. Yes, you will bust your ass seemingly for peanuts, but it is coming in (income). ANY income is good. It does suck gas and basic needs are way more expensive these days, but like a few others have stated you have to make certain decisions and do certain things to get to a certain place. It's all choices a person makes and decides where and what level in life they want to be. I wish I never had to work another day in my life, but I do it to keep the things I have and to have something when I either can retire, or I'm forced to.

Yeah you think "entry level" today still means no education required... lol

that shit doesn't lead to careers anymore. "entry level" means a degree and well more  beyond that depending on the field with possible work experience required (yes, for "entry level")

you're /completely/ out of touch and you have no idea what my situation is. I work a minimum wage job and my parents depend on me to pay rent so we can keep our house. I'm 31.

well sometimes you have to leave your little town where no jobs exist and find a place where they do. i moved to nevada and entry level, no experience required, night shift at the tesla plant pays $20/hr to start. thats not bad for a bunch of 18 yr olds who work there. when i was 18 i was making $6/hr lol

and thsts $6/hr BEFORE taxes......

:congrats: I agree 100%. Some people expect to be given a living wage right away, it has never been that way since reagan took office and the "trickle down theory" was implemented. Unless you know someone who gets you in, or has the opportunity to work a family biz etc...you simply must take "shit jobs", period. Greedy bastards will always be greedy bastards, a person with no upward mobility, opportunities to do so, and not given a boost of some sort through family money, a friend(s), or whatever, simply MUST DO any fucking menial labor or any fucking job they can get, period. It sucks, but like the person above me said, experience is experience, and it all adds up little by little no matter how trivial, shitty, or meaningless it seems.

sitting around whining about the economy or "livable wages" is not productive. look at you now, jobless yet living lol so dont knock the minimum wage of you only intend to do minimum effort.

i moved to CA 4 years ago because wages were nearly double what they are in PA for the same jobs. people say CA is so expensive and thats not true. food is cheaper than PA, alcohol is cheaper, weed is cheaper, and the rental market is the same. yes it gets to be more expensive in LA or San Francisco but outside the major metropolitan areas apartments are relatively the same prices as i had seen in PA before i moved.

Yep, that too, just travel a bit outside a metro area and it's "affordable" to a degree. Rent is affordable in certain places that may not aesthetically pleasing and/or a bit dangerous, but that is what must be done in order to live.
