Getting started

So..........what’s up fam. My new family....hehehehehe


So I 1: love mushrooms. 2: Got excited. 3: bought a Midwest grow kit ($140 fml) 4: found this website and realized my mistake.


I’m going to basically gut the system when it gets here and modify it to follow @SpitballJedi guide on a SGFC. I am making a SAB with the old man this weekend and am soooooooo fucking pumped to get started. I ordered two albino penis envy syringes from spore works...( I understand these are difficult to fruit with PF Tek but I was very committed to trying this cubensis.) SO ANY TIPS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I plan on using the jars from Midwest first and then on the second go around I will be making and sterilizing my own BRF jars most likely inoculating with either Golden Teacher or B+ on the 2nd go. The amount of knowledge that I have received just from using this site for a few days is incredible and overwhelming af at the same time. I can tell you guys and girls are great people and will be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance. Does anyone have any good starting advice or tips for the Midwest modification beyond following SGFC TEK? Love and light.

Your plan sounds okay to me. I don't have experience with SGFC's but I imagine the most important part is dialing in the proper airflow and humidity at all times, especially if you're trying to fruit APE.

It seems great! I'd just recommend what I'd have wished someone said to me when I begun: even though you are working directly from multispore to jars by now, start with agar. If you get success, you'll have both: a nice shrooms ready and some agar plates of clean cultures. But, if you fail in the first attempts of growing, you'll have at least a clean culture almost ready to work with.

I would do this: Fruit the kit normally according to the instructions in the manual, this will teach you basics, then get a pressure cooker and research agar and take clones and sporeprints from the fruits.

Ah, it's a kit with like cake jars? SGFC seems fine then although not really necessary, it's more of a super low maintenance tek for if you have no time.

I bought the same kit and used my HC to fruit my cakes and it works beautifully. Since then I've got several monotubs going and several shoeboxes going as well. But, I will continue using that HC for my cakes.
