Keeping perlite from falling through the holes in a SGFC

So I love the SGFC, what I don't love is messy perlite falling through the bottom holes and getting all over the place. For my situation, that's a dealbreaker. I have seen setups without the bottom holes that seem to work ok, but the general concensus is that bottom holes are superior. So how do you guys with bottom holes keep the perlite from falling through? I was thinking about maybe lining the bottom with a sheet of screen I would rather go through the hassle of rigging a bubbler or fogger than have to be cleaning up little pieces of perlite all the damn time. Opinions?

By using a 1/4" drill bit to make the proper sized holes. My perlite never falls through. RR

Proper sized holes, and if you still have perlite falling through (i know you can get smaller sized perlite) maybe glue some wire mesh over the holes.
Have your terrarium sit above a tray.
Ive honestly only seen this been asked a few times before, and it was incorrect hole size

the drill bit should be almost half the size of a bic pen
i made one with slightly bigger holes like a half inch(slightly smalle rthan a pen)
some fell through but after i wet it it came together and didnt anymore.
i use the small kind too

once you actually have saturated perlite in the terrarium it does not go through the holes. even with holes slightly bigger than 1/4 inch. drill holes in all sides. you will soon see what we are talking about. -prismism

Cool, that's what I was wondering. I know for a fact that some of those pieces of perlite are smaller than a 1/4 inch, so logically, they can fall through, but I guess they bond well enough when wet that they don't fall through. Thanks.

Yeah they reach some sort of equilibrium, if you will.

Get some big and chunky perlite as well. It's a little less messy overall.
It's easy to find at hydroponic stores.

Plus chunky will work better, more airflow through it.
