I've been an auto body technician for a year now. Sweet gig, learning a ton about cars, almost certified to work in any shop. So far best job I've had, keeps my mind and hands busy. Downside is it's unhealthy and constantly dangerous. So far just a little blood and a lot of bondo dust.

Not fruit picking, but when I was an electrician apprentice I worked a side gig as a farmer. I would build raised beds, till soil, dig up plants, plant plants, spread mulch, irrigation, fencing, and all that stuff. That was some hard ass work. I always have some kind of side business going along with my main job for extra money and to keep me busy and in shape.

Sounds awesome! Can I ride my dirt bike there? What kind of land is it? Like forest, desert, or mixed.

81 acres is pretty huge. Will you farm it?

its high desert. surrounded by mountains. hell yes to dirt bikes lol not many trees on my property but there are more trees on the mountains. there are several natural hot springs nearby. my brother and I are still deciding what we will do there. I want to farm but we have lots of different ideas. i really like the idea of building a small house there and retiring from the "world". we can use solar for energy and well for water.

Depends on where you live, depends on how many hours you get, but yes, you certainly can survive. Will you have the money to be comfortable? No.

what's the alternative? You act like people work just to blow it all on luxuries.

Actually, many alternatives.  Without risking being in the for prison profit system.

Took me a long time to realize that.  But now I do and can share the wisdom with those in the know and those that don't want to waste their lives as time goes on.  The beatings of a tired heart.

Do I want to teach, assist people?  To see what is possible in life as I also learn from others worth learning from?

Watch some John Oliver.  Or think that life is going to go on like it has.  If you were born before 2008 and that uprising.

I have a really crazy job now since feburary. Its got benefits 401k and I get to set my rules and how much they pay. No college degree was needed for it. Just confidence in my worth plus a verifiable track record of doing rare skilled labor machining.

I still day dream about quitting and going hermit on some land that I want to buy. It's going to happen soon for sure

Don't want to make you feel bad or anything dude but serious question. How have your parents not kicked you out yet?!?!

Now there is nothing wrong with living in the same house as your folks as long as you are paying rent and buying/paying for all your own shit, but to live off your parents @30 isn't cute in any shape or form.

You gotta get your shit together bro. If you think it's hard now to get a job, just think how hard it will be in 10 years when you're 40 with not work experience....and what are you gonna do if something were to happen to your parents? How would you survive?

It depends on your lifestyle, but it can definitely be done. You won't be renting a 1 bedroom apartment by yourself. You will have to make a lot of sacrifices until you can make more money. You could rent a couch on $10 an hour or share a place with a few friends.

When I was working at Kmart I shared an apartment with a girlfriend and when that went sour I rented an efficiency. If you're working minimum wage then you will probably need at least two jobs, or need to sell a few drugs, to live a lil comfy. If you want a nice future for yourself then you make a sacrifice here and there and do what needs to be done.

Thankfully I don't have parents that will support me and let me leech into my 30's and older.
