ID Request - Auckland, New Zealand (First timer)

ID Request - New Zealand

This was my second hunt ever, so fingers crossed here!


    * Habitat What kind of trees were nearby?  What was it growing from? 
Beneath flax bushes, wood chips, near moterway



    * Location
Auckland - New Zealand

    * Gills
Please see photos



    * Stem
Please see photos


* Scent
Not overly strong, really just like a fresh mushroom

    * Spore print color
Purplish brown, please see photos
(Just for comparison, I made a spore print of a different species of mushroom which wasn’t the target, and print was a clear light brown color) Lighting was a bit tricky so I took one in direct sunlight



    * Color that the mushroom bruises when damaged.
Before picking - Noticeable blue bruising on edges of cap, and bottom of stem
After 1 hour of picking - Very prominent blue bruising on edges of cap and bottom of stem. Blue stain residue on white paper towels

They look like subaeruginosa to me but wait for a trusted identifier before you touch em

It is definitely a Psilocybe sp., id say Psilocybe subaeruginosa

those caramel caps look gorgeous.  nice prints :thumbup:

Indeed they are Psilocybe subaeruginosa, and some very nice quality fruits.

If you don't already have a food dehydrator, get one.
