Id request - first find Psilocybe sub.? Tasmania

Habitat: Tasmania south east, soil surrounded my moss,

Gills: brown

Stem: hollow, white, purple bruising

Cap: mostly dark brown 3-5cm

Spore print colour: in process now

Bruising: purple

Quite certain they are subs. First time finding this species so want to be 100%.

These do not look like a Psilocybe species. They are likely Cortinarius, due to the purple color and rusty spore deposits on the stem.
Apart from that you need to take better pictures - of whole, intact specimens, both of cap surface, gills and stem - preferably also in situ
including bits of the surrounding habitat.

I thought the purple was a bit odd. Unfortunately didn’t get any pictures in situ, looked as though they were growing directly out of moss but assumed there was soil underneath. I’ll do some reading on cortinarius.

Yes they are definitely Cortinarius sp.

People in Tas have lost their kidneys from confusing Cortinarius sp. with Psilocybe sp..  be safe.
