I got caught for growing shrooms. I got caught because I went to an illegal rave with a broken license plate light. They searched my car, found clippings of fresh marijuana and we back to my apartment, and they kindly searched my apartment, finding mushroom "starts", cakes and my 3ft illegal weed plant. Worst night of my life.

Interesting thing I didn't know until listening to 'American Kingpin' (a book/audio-book that details the rise and fall of Ross Ulbricht) was that it was a post on the shroomery that was originally indirectly responsible for placing Ulbirchts name onto a list of suspects.

It wasn't his shroomery account or name that was directly linked to his real name or anything like that, they goggled his shroomery name, and were then able to link him to other accounts from where they eventually found his real name in an account that he had already deleted.

Of course I am not trying to argue here that this is cause for concern, because Ross Ulbiricht was a whole other level to your average shroomery poster/grower, but it does serve to illustrate I think, that if the feds really do consider you important enough, tiny seemingly insignificant security lapses online, can bring a person down.

A guy who was seriously up to no good, would indeed be utterly insane to post on the shroomery in a manner that the average user here does.

It's a thrilling book by the way. How much of it is truth and how much fiction I don't know but either way it's a good yarn...

Yeah. From what I could gather, when he was getting started he was indeed a bit of a noob and had alot of help from more experienced people as he went along.

You reckon he was as guilty as they say, in regards to his ordering up hits on people? This book I'm listening to is fricking fantastic as a story but at times, I'm just thinking how could this guy possibly know all these in depth detailed things? Just wondering if it's not a bit of a 911 commision report. Don't know who these people he is supposed to have killed (according to the book he hired hells angels to carry out hits) actually are either, or what the evidence is...

From what I can see elsewhere there was not enough evidence to even try him on murder charges, and the guy is doing more time than a child murderer. Weird looking at that post, 8 years ago, he was selling shrooms. Now he is locked up for actual life.

I really don't agree with some of the things he allowed to be sold on the site though, so I do have some reservations about just exactly what he was capable of...

Well, if you live with your parents or roommates, don't do it. If you live alone or live with people who you believe you can trust completely, keep reading.

Outside of who absolutely needs to know, tell no one. Oh yea but my one friend Kevin he's cool and he knows about all kinds of other - NO. Not even Kevin. Fuck Kevin. Kevin would probably rat on you if the hammer came down on him hard enough. Believe me.

Take every precaution if you're that paranoid. Use a VPN on your computer. Don't order anything to your address. Buy supplies at various different stores. Use cash - no credit or debit transactions. Burn the receipts and all trash/waste.

I repeat. Tell no one. If your friends ask where you're getting all of the mushrooms, tell them you're buying them off of someone who doesn't want to be named. If they don't believe you, tell them you went mushroom picking. Make up whatever you have to.

Hate to say it, but when it comes to shit like this I trust very very few people. For you, I'll say trust no one just to be safe.

Let's start with this- I am a convicted felon...for growing mushrooms. I read a 200 page discovery packet, detailing a 2(maybe 3,don't remember) surveillance operation on me. I have more insight than most here.

The chances are pretty fucking slim. Growingshrooms, there are no telltale signs of any wrong doing. If you wanna sell them... any drug dealer making enough sales to be worth the trouble is gonna get caught eventually,and when you do- you're getting a manufacturing charge too. 8 years mandatory minimum(guess how I know).

Anyway, this is serious shit. Nobody needs to know but your spouse.Nobody. If you shut your mouth and you aren't trying to sell...you're not gonna get caught

I guess that begs the question,how did I? Well there were 2 things.

1. I was growing weed too. That's how they caught me. They got a search warrant for that, and "found"shrooms while they were at it.

2. Police are pieces of shit. I called for 911 when my daughter passed. The Police came,illegally searched my house and reported the illegally taken photos as an anonymous tip,which then started an investigation leading them to a marijuana grow...and a sad,small amount of mushrooms since by then I wasn't really growing anymore
