Job scheduling me more hours than I want

Do I just say yo can you try to keep it between 16-18 (what I want)?

Do I have to come up with some excuse or something? She already knows I'm in school.

But in the summer I don't want extra hours, either.

I'm making enough to pay for my gym and help parents with rent + some disposable income.

I keep getting shifts that make it hard to show up and train at all, haven't trained since sunday before yesterday.

Call in the days you don't want.

Might get fired, but then you can find a new job that may conform to your schedule, better.

They make try to get rid of you if you say that.  Better to look for a job with good hours for you and keep the one you have untill you find that other job

Life is VERY VERY expensive. Work as much as you can and save it now so you can get a good start when you go out on your own. You can ask for less hours and they will probably agree, but then they're going to think you're lazy and pass you up for promotions and raises.

Don't ever call in to work unless you have to. That makes you look really bad and to get the next job your future employer will want a reference from this employer.

The amount I could save from a minimum wage job while working towards the qualifications to get a real job wont be worth shit where I live. You need $80k a year here to live comfortably in a 1br apt.

And there won't ever be any raises or promotions.

Some money is better than none. I guess you have rich parents or a sugar mamma. I didn't and I had to work full-time with a side gig and go to school full-time.

A college degree with bad job references won't get you too far IME.

Parents but they're not rich. Just saying it would take a small fortune in savings to stay afloat on minimum wage.

What I'm doing now is customer service experience and that can help me get my foot in the door with a helpdesk job.

How on Earth did you manage more than full time work + ft school? That doesn't seem possible.

It was very hard and didn't leave much time for much else, but I was on my own and didn't have much choice. I had bills to pay and didn't want to be stuck in a dead end job forever so I buckled down got through it.

Of course, you should do whatever you think is right. I was just suggesting that because I made a good amount of money when I was younger and instead of saving it I spent it all on drugs and women when I should have saved.

My old job would force overtime and I protested it so much. They even tried to get us to work for free and I learned I was the only one who clocked in. My coworkers thought I was crazy. I told them they were cuz its slavery if they make us work for free. They were black too. Never got called out cuz it would obviously be a huge lawsuit.

Quit.  Best thing you could do for oneself.  I did 16 times in one year filing my EZ-40's.  Fuck them.  You've been one busy boy, said the clerk at the IRS office.  Still makes me laugh.  There is so much more to life then slaving under someone for nothing.
