Yes, pushing the substrate down into the corners and side a bit.

Yeah it was just an idea, I’m still going to try a few things on the side for my next grows.

I thought this shoebox only had a few sidepins but then my roommate saw the bottom and I thought it best to just flip it since the top was doing squat.

I set it on an upside down shoebox, surrounded by a maot of wet coir.

Do yall think that is enough coir ir should I fill it up moar?

I hope they keep gowing, i flipped it last night...

Seems like a bad idea to use a growing substrate in the bottom as a hydrator.  You should take it out and just put the sub in there.  There is plenty of humidity without it.  Just lightly mist the surface if it drys out and leave the lid flipped or cracked open on the bigger tub.

It’s a bad idea? where would the humidity come from then? I thought humidity chambers had to have something in them to give off moisture. lol

Perlite would be a lot better choice if you are set on adding something.  Humidity chambers don't have growing substrates in the bottom of them just sitting there like a contam magnet.  You might as well dump some grains in the bottom with that coir and have a 2 level shroom palace.

Um.  Yes they do.  It’s not a bad design at all. I wouldn’t worry about the contams.  Ain’t gonna happen fast enough to matter.  You’ll be done and out of there before it matters.  I’ve seen great success with coir as a moisture sequester.
