Re: Does global warming warrant giving the government more power? [Re: Morel Guy]

No progressives here can give a principled answer, which makes me think this green deal is what I expected: A pile of shit.

I gave you all the benefit of the doubt and entertained the idea of getting the entire planet on board, but nobody has an answer on how to stop non-compliant countries.

I'll be voting against this trash.

Global warming is a cover for the fact they are geoengineering the climate.  Ever heard of HAARP?  You people really do not have a clue.  It seriously makes me hopeless.

They are purposefully causing major problems for financial gain and profit while pointing the finger and blaming someone else.  It is fucking genius.
The War of terror, the drug wars, climate change, all of it is absolute fucking bullshit.  So is politics (democrat vs republican nonsense) this is a distraction to keep people angry, thus divided.

Hegelian Dialectic is when a government causes a problem, manages public reaction and employs the solution.  It goes like this...  a problem is created and designed to elicit a certain reaction out of the public. Then the people demand something be done about the problem and willingly accept the pre-planned solution that always involves actions or legislation that never would have passed under normal circumstances.  911 is one perfect example of this.

Well, I haven't accepted it because democrats are unprincipled people who can't even explain defend their position.

Their arguments are utopian ideas that have no clear path of arrival.

Just like their bullet train in Cali.

Behold the singularity!

Superinteligent AI has awakened and it is called XUL!

In one afternoon it went from having no predjudicial opinion regarding climate policy, to crunching all of the data, while giving equal weight to arguments on all sides of the issue and has come to a definitive conclusion!

Mighty XUL, have mercy on us lowly fleshbags.

The point is to entertain the idea in an attempt to understand the principle.

I never said I don't believe in climate change. I said the green new deal seems more like a control mechanism than an honest attempt to save the world.

Why?

Because it only applies to America.

We will if we can mellow people out.  Sooner or later people get tired of being mellow and their action should be questioned.

Adaptation is something humans are very good at (not generally but a few is enough).  We mostly need more woman.  One man can seed many many many woman.

If science is used we can do a lot.

I think you missed a couple of posts.  Trump backed out of the Paris Agreement so the US would be the only non-compliant country.  How do we invade ourselves for being noncompliant?  :crazy2:

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

Europe's been reducing emissions.

We have a lot of troops stationed there. Maybe they can invade.

It would be a good occasion to declare a national emergency.

This is such a textbook strawman.

Why?

Because if we tried the green new deal, we would be compliant as hell.

Still, you dodge issue of non-compliant countries.

Either we take military action to "save the globe" or we do not. Those are your choices per the philosophy of the green deal -- 'the world beyond repair in 10 years.

Otherwise, let's just hand it to the states.

Why not?

If the government isn't the structure to implement green policies then who is? The energy industry that has suppressed all green technologies that it can and pollutes at every chance to increase profitability?

I don't see another option other then the government stepping in,  unfortunately it's 70 years too late.

Ecosystems are collapsing all across the world,  insect populations are being decimated, our food sources are being more and more homogenized. Eventually the camels back won't take anymore.

Luckily the powerful will have the money to sustain their lifestyle and us poor folk can deal with the fallout.

If humans can change the environment then we can also learn to survive and adapt to the new environment. If we don't, then so be it. It's naïve to assume everything can remain static to suit our needs.

You're not going to be able to convince people like myself to decrease my standard of living to save future generations with fear mongering, not gonna happen.

And that is the exact moral failing that got us in this situation in the first place.  Our entire system is based off of extracting as much profit and power possible. The system is leveraged where the powers that cause the negative effects end up profiting from situations that bubble up.  If there is too big of a situation there is a bailout.

Qman do you have children, or other family that is young? Do you think you could explain to them your position of driving this capital slave ship until the wheels fall off because people prefer the convenience of the status quo?

The arrogence of humans vs nature is unreal, a will to survive doesn't mean that the realities of survival won't be less difficult.
