Vacuum Sealers

A friend of mine was wondering the best way to preserve dry mushrooms. I would have to think that a vacuum sealer would do an excellent job. My friend wants to store them for several years.

Should anything be added to the dry mushrooms before the vacuum seal? Would they need to be put in the freezer if you got all the air out of the bag? My buddy doesn't want to be surprised when his wife cleans the freezer.

they work great!  :smile:  but if you seal them in bags, be ready for some crushed mushrooms when your ready to use them!  :frown:

I usually vacuum seal mine in eighths, and add a desiccant packet and an oxygen absorber packet to each...these are then packed into quart jars and popped into the deep freeze. My shrooms seem to survive intact when stored long term...
