PO Boxes and Money Orders......?

I have a question about PO Boxes and Money orders.......

K for the PO boxes......when signing up for one, could you use a fake name or address without them finding out? Do they ask for your social security number? I dont want to get stuff sent to my house but if I were to get a PO Box......and Id have to tell them my address and name anyway, then whats the point?

Also....when sending someone a money order, is it possible to sign a fake name? Would the person still be able to cash it? Thanx!!!!!!!

I read that, but you still have to give them your home address.....so I dont see the point....

I used to live in a neighboring state, 5 minutes away. I moved, before I switched my license over, I got a PO Box in that town. Its in my name, but they dont have my new home address. They wont ask you for you SS#, nowhere should except for your bank.

As for the money order.. You could send the money order totally blank if you really wanted, this depends on who's receiving it. If you put your real name on it, then you have a receipt, the carbon copy. If you dont put your name, whoever is receiving it can just cash it, and say they never got it. There's nothing you can do about that, and I always put my full information (PO Box in the address) just because its more professional and makes it easier for them. Then when they are filling orders they know 'ok, this person paid for this much' when they are packing your box.

If its just for spores, or RCs, or anything legal, dont worry about it. I mean, I know your paranoia tells you not to, but just be honest with your info. You look like you have less to hide. In my old place, I used to order spores, rite to the door of the growhouse without any problems. The place I get spores from packages it so the postman just thinks its some underground porn or something, its all good  :smirk:

Filling out money orders is just to protect your money. Getting a fake PO box is pretty hard, they are probably going to want to see a utility bill or something of that sort, besides your ID. You can fabricate fake stuff, but thats gonna either be expensive or time consuming to do. Its also highly illegal, and if they catch you.. Well, its not worth it if what you want is legal, just quasi-legal, and you are just worried about a knock at the door. If you are receiving something thats just outright illegal, well thats a whole other story, you're gonna want to look at some other options, and weigh the risks. PM me if that's the case, and I'll try to share some experiences that might help out your situation.

Around here (Pennsylvania) the shortest amount of time for a PO box rental is 6 months.

And yes, you do need to give them an alternate address.  It doesn't have to be your home address. 

Show the counter clerk at the post office your ID.  Then fill out a seperate address on the form that they give you.  If they ask why the two addresse are different tell them that you're moving and thats why you need the PO box :smile:
