Yeah, no need for a lecture people.  When I said "child's movie" I didn't mean it in a derogatory sense, but rather in a formula sense.  I loved the movie, I just thought the "true love conquors all" thing between the two children was disappointing because it's a formula that is overused in movies.  I thought that the movie could have been great without that.

... huh?... you must've gotten me wrong, i didnt mean anything in that way.

Oh.   Right...  Sorry for sounding defensive!  It's past my bed time.

Spirited Away rocks my world!  Princess Mononoke is 'put in the same category' as Spirited Away mainly due to the fact that it was made by the same guy and the same anime studio who made Spirited Away.  The creator is Hayao Miyazaki, who heads the animation studio, Studio Ghibli.
They're also known for their other movies, Castle in the Sky and Kiki's Delivery Service.
I haven't seen Castle in the Sky, but if you're looking for a really really cute movie where everything turns out alright in the end, see Kiki's Delivery Service.  Just all around wonderful!  Not the best movie in the world, but if you're a kid at heart, this movie will really make you smile and perk up your mood.
Anyway, Miyazaki is well known as a huge creative force in anime in Japan.  Unfortunately, Spirited Away was supposidly his last movie.  Unlike a WHOLE lot of American animated movies, his ideas were purely original instead of based on well-known fairy tales.
Bah.  I'm so sick of seeing sequel after sequel of Disney movies.  That and the fact that they make every movie-length cartoon of their's a 'Disney Classic' as soon as they release it is really annoying.
I have lost all respect for American-based animation studios.  All the ideas ciculating and being made into movies there are old and grungy and reused over and over again.  That, or they're just incredibly stupid.  (Example: "Home on the Range"?  Come on!  That's the best they can do!?!  It looks like shit!)  I feel like the only fresh, original animation coming out anymore is from Japan.
I miss old-school Disney!

I'm not a huge anime fan, but I watch what comes across my path. Spirit Away was real good, I would definately watch it again, I'd even buy it.

I only saw it once, and I was shroomin, so its kind of hazy and seemed like a dream. No face was a total trip. I give this movie 5 shrooms. :mushroom2:
and two of these
:stoned:
