Been drinking them more lately, so many great choices! Here are my current favorites:



Cheesy name but it has a great smooth citrus taste, been meaning to drink one with an actual grapefruit :lol: Just got this other Schilling cider to try as well:



Next up is another PNW brewery, Atlas:



This berry cider is one of my alltime favotites, very strong taste. Atlas also makes a very interesting seasonal Vanilla Pear cider:



Last up isn't technically a cider, it's a sour berry ale. But it taste like a sour berry cider IMO:

I like Two Towns and the one with the Harp picture on the front. Forgot the name....

Smith and Forge aint bad either.

Two Towns are pretty popular around here as they are based in Corvalis which is just 1-2 towns away.

Yup. Cool story about Two Towns is that two friends from Corvallis and Eugene invented the brand. Hence the name Two Towns :smile:

Would be pretty cool to start a brewery.

I've heard Oregon's climate is shifting so that grapes will be easier to grow over time, makes me want to get some land and start a vineyard/orchard.

Yup. I went to a cider party one time. They had this Pumkpin cider. Daaaaaamn. That was the best cider there. Cant even get it in stores.

I heard about that climate change. Its becoming more like Napa Valley.

Those seasonal ones can be amazing :awesomenod: The vanilla bean pear Atlas cider is very worth trying, but they only sell it in the big bottles sadly.

I really wish more places sold cider samplers, I've seen a few but nothing too tempting. Meanwhile there is literally a whole section of big ass IPA samplers. A cider party/tasting event would be amazing :drooling:

This winter it's been super apparent, first it was dry up until fucking december. Didn't see many fungi until just a few weeks ago. Secondly it was pretty damn warm for awhile, haven't bothered moving a bunch of my cacti out of the cold as it has barely dropped below 30f...

Not that I mind the warmer weather but it is a bit crazy to notice. Last year it was freezing and pouring buckets all winter like usual :lol:

Anyways I just tried the Schilling Passport cider which has pineapple and passion fruit :strokebeard: It was a bit overwhelming at first but now I'm noting the tropical aftertaste more clearly. Going to try putting it on ice so as it melts it becomes slightly diluted, might taste best that way.

At first I didn't really like it as much as the grapefruit, but it has grown on me a ton now that I'm adjusting. You can definitely taste the passion fruit. The initial taste is almost too strong, but it has a great tropical aftertaste.

Though I feel like it's missing something, maybe mango? Something to balance out the other 2...

Never been huge on alcohol myself but some ciders/ales are just so tasty. And drinking a few can give a pretty nice buzz with some cannabis. Only issue is the nicer ones can be pretty expensive :shakefist:

Another delicious non cider ale everyone should try is Framboise lambic from Belgium:



It's basically a very sweet/bubbly ale brewed with a ton of rasberries in Belgium, using wild yeast found in a specific region of Belgium. There are sour lambics too as well as ones made with other fruits/berries. But the Framboise is amazing.

But once again it's pretty damn expensive, especially so since it's an import. One day I hope to travel to Belgium and drink myself sick on fresh lambic :rofldrunk: It's just so tasty... :crazy2:

Two towns pacific pineapple was delicious. Now I wanna try that pineapple passion fruit one you posted ! Never seen it around here

I’m glad cider is becoming more popular. I like it better than beer in most cases. Super refreshing and feels like a cleaner buzz

The only one I know about is angry orchard. I've heard about another one or two but haven't experimented much with them. It seems too sugary. I like me some henfenwisen. is there something about these hard ciders I should know about?

The only issue I have with ciders is they can be pretty damn sweet, so while they taste great it can be a bit much. Which is why I love some sour berry ales, wish I could find one these:



They sell the raspberry and cucumber ones individually at fred meyers here but no sample pack or lemon/apricot ones :shakefist:

But yeah I agree 100%, 90% of beer tastes nasty IMO. Maybe if I enjoyed getting drunk drinking beer would be more appealing. Got an IPA sampler pack since it was on sale and has some interesting kinds, but man are they intense...



The first one is a blood orange IPA and it actually tastes like hoppy orange rinds :uhoh: One of the bitterest brews I've ever tasted... The Lil Squeezy one was actually fairly smooth but still not exactly tasty. Then there's the 8% Pearl which I haven't even tried yet :lol:

I agree on the sweetness but it does vary. That Grapefruit Schilling cider I posted isn't too sweet compared with some other berry/fruit ciders. They are more to drink for taste IME, the sweetness makes it hard to drink too many.

It depends what you mean. Well made ciders can be delicious so it's worth trying some of the more exotic ones if you enjoy tasty drinks.

If you get a chance try the Atlas Blackberry cider or their Seasonal Vanilla Bean Pear cider. And if they are still too sweet maybe try some sour berry ales like the 10 Barrels Raspberry Crush which is almost like a sour berry cider.
