? on what would be better for 1st time
    #25688671 -

Okay so my jars are all doing well while one is doing super well the threads on the mycelium just look so fricking strong it's crazy.  Anyways after my jars are done I'm wondering what would be better to do in terms of yield if any difference and difficulty.  After I birth and dunk them should I grade them up and make a mono tub(i think thats what its called) using coir for casing?  Or should I just put down 2 inches of wet perlite and set the cakes in and do it that way?  I'm just wondering what would be easier to take care of and guarantee me to most likely succeed.  Or is there any difference.  I hope this makes sense, I'm still trying to get my bearings and learn all these terms and different things on here.

Didn't say but obviously I'm a newb here and have never grown anything yet these are my 1st jars.  Well 2nd the 1st six got contaminated and I had to make these myself.

The amount of mushrooms you will get from the medium is dependant upon the amount of available food. While you could grate them
and spawn to a monotub, there isn't any real benefit to doing so, BRF doesn't provide huge amounts and it won't increase your yield.
That's why you won't see it mentioned often, typically with bulk, more grain [i.e. Higher spawn ratio] is the way to get more. You would want
to make up an SGFC, it's more like 4 - 5 inches of perlite & just follow the tek to the letter and throw those suckers in.

Assuming you're working with half pint BRF jars you would need something like 8 jars or more to spawn to a monotub.

I disagree with Boxer on the yield a monotub vs cakes would give you.  It will be a higher yield with a tub guaranteed, however, you're new to growing and spawning to a monotub would effectively be putting all your eggs in one basket.  I wouldn't recommend that.  One cake with a contamination you didn't notice would botch the entie tub and you may get nothing at all from your efforts.

Another red flag, if you will, is "use a coir casing."  You don't case spawn with coir.  You mix the coir and spawn together [fairly] evenly which is called spawning to bulk.  I'd suggest doing a little more research on bulk grows to make sure you fully understand what you need to do and then take that next step on your next grow.

Go with the SGFC this time around so you can get some fruits growing and get an idea of how to read your fruits and how FAE and RH effects your surface conditions. That way when you move to a bulk tub you will have some idea of what's going on in there.

Thanks man I'll just stick with the cakes for a few times and do some more research on going that other route, of course I'll need to get a PC first anyways.  Appreciate the response, I really do it makes complete sense.

U can also spawn cakes to bulk. No pc required.
