here's some 24 hour update pics:

the oak ridge bags are doing their thing, they continue to knot up and form pins, not a bad problem to have, but they can end up doing this for several days, they do this invitro, but not so much ive seen with other methods, like cakes/casings.
the blue meanie monotub w/o a casing layer is doing very well...
BUT,
I am having to fan/mist the monotub to keep the environment correct.
i don't like that, monotubs are supposed to be "set it and forget it"

another update:

the bags are doing good, Oak Ridge, as i said before, takes a long time to finish pinning before they really bolt upright.
The bluemeanie monotub is doing just fine w/o a casing layeR!
will update again tomorrow.
forgot one.

So far I am considering this a success. Now, if there were something to add to coir for even more nutes... something beyond the ordinary... I would almost consider giving up poo..
I'll keep updating daily.
edit: I wish I could take a 360* pic as they all have pins completely wrapped around them, not just on the parts i've focused on.
I still think it will be late monday even late tuesday night before I am drying anything.

My guess will be about 45+ wet grams.

is it me or from 10-21 to 11-5 is 15 days from spawning the bags, letting it colonize, setting out to fruit, to pinning, pretty good.

i quoted this from a different thread, but it's so true, i want it tatoo'd on my back,
Quote:
Blutjager said: My 1st successful grow was rye spawned to poo,Why pf tek is recommended for beginners is beyond me,1st you have impossible to find ingredients than sitting there with the god forsaken coffee grinder till your thumb falls off, fanning, misting, air stones, bubble wands, pumps and tubing and blah blah blah blah. And them when you are lucky enough to get it right the payoff of your success(If you can call it that with a straight face)Is a few measly mushrooms for all your hard work. Why do people keep playing this practical joke on the newbies,Its a terrible thing to do to them,I remember what it was like to be them because it wasn't that long ago that I couldn't grow anything no matter how hard I tried.I don't know if it is just that the people who recommend it don't remember how hard this is when you 1st start and you are struggling but I sure remember and for everyone I help convince not to make themselves go through that nightmare I think that may be one person who may stick with this hobby and have a good harvest and enjoy them self and not say this isn't worth it and give up after being so horribly disappointed by what the get out of all their hard work. The work for payoff ratio for pf tek is like driving 500 miles to work all day for minimum wage,. in other words ITS NOT WORTH IT
i am wondering, what I could have added to my coir, for better results. I added nothing, but some malt syrup, water, and calcium carb.

K an update:
The monotub of coir seems to be producing the fruit sizes I want. I wouldn't really say the invitro bags are phenomenal, as each fruit is roughly the same size as what you would get off of a brf cake. This really works though. If you are considering SERIOUS bulk, then by far it seems coir monotubs FTW. The invitro bags are good for the novelist, whom just wants ample amounts for a good weekend. I like stashing back, and more stashing back.
No bioassay as of yet, i'll get back to that later.

thanks binarycircuit, I am pretty impressed with the multispore pinset without a casing layer, on the bluemeanie coir tub.

now, guys if you're going to do invitro poo bags, use manure/straw, not coir, (or a mix of coir/straw/manure)
here is a side by side comparison:
Manure: (these are very large and not opened yet)

Coir: (these are pretty small, about what you'd expect from a BRF pftek cake, less then a gram dry for most of them some not even half gram dry)

The coir bags, while the numbers are enormous, are from the oak ridge strain, that's a repetitive "problem" even with poo. Not a bad problem, but that many numbers on Coir that is not supplemented in some way calls for smaller fruitbodies.
I do believe, that the same quality/size mushroom can be gotten from coir, but it's going to have to have additives, it's really looking easier to just order compost/manure/straw from a shroomery sponsor like www.mycopath.com, or , additives for the coir.

add in some dried out used coffee grounds to the coir, my next monotub is 2 bricks of coir and 8 cups coffee grounds for the bulk. If everything goes well it should be a 4oz dry+ first flush.

I am thinking, yeah, coffee grounds, some more malt syrup, some egg shells, some "sugar in the raw",
and my newly rehydrated F+ syringe to wbs,
I am switching to WBS also.
lol.
wow.
the two healthiest invitro bags yielded me 1.25oz dry. Not bad for 2 invitro bags, I am used to manure giving 3oz dry per bag though.
I think maybe my moisture content was off also, as I brought it to casing layer capacity, when maybe it should have been a bit more wet.

with invitro bags coir, brf, flax and straw mixture is the bomb! make sure the bags have about 6in of substrate in each. that will provide for some monsters.
