Ok to dunk coir before 1st flush? PIC

Here is a pic of 1 brick of coir in a monotub. I figured out that the cracks were caused from the tub flexing. If i prop it up 1" on one side the cracks disappear.
Its been 5 days and its not fully colonized yet, anyone think I should dunk it before 1st flush? Im planning on using RR's method of running cold water over for a few hours, if i dunk. Does anyone have any ideas on how to drain the monotub after dunking?
Thanks

why is your tub flexing?
you should never have cracks like that in your sub! thats way to dry then. id def do a dunk. you wont get no mushies with a dry sub.

Look... WATER the substrate.
Don't dunk it until it is fully colonized OR IT WILL TURN INTO MUD! A colonized tub will stay a cake after a dunk... but if it isn't colonized... it turns into mud.
Until it is fully colonized and flushing, treat it like a CASING and NOT like a CAKE!
Instead, SPRAY some water on it. Don't waste another day dilly-dallying... waiting for answers on this board... we ALL say you need water!!! WATER IT!
Let it RAIN!
The mushies you are growing are from the sub-tropics and you need to provide them with a sub-tropical environment.
You think it DOESN'T rain every once in a while outside while fungus colonizes?
Give them a good amount of water!
You CAN NOT DUNK... until you have full colonization... but you can WATER YOUR SUBSTRATE.
Just SPRAY THE FUCK OUT OF IT... then leave it alone again. It has ALREADY colonized enough to take the water and produce a flush.
I would case as SOON as you have turned your substrate into a wetland... and set it IMMEDIATELY to fruiting conditions. It will colonize on its own terms for a few more days... but God knows when it will be ready to fruit. Best to tell it to fruit soon... cause it also may contam soon. You will want to get as much from this tub as you can... as SOON as you can.
Once your tub is fruiting, it should be pretty contam resistant for a few flushes. Get it fruiting ASAP!
Let it rain, and give it air!

Hey guys, so far so good(I hope). I "let it rain" and applied 50/50 casing. Im a little concerned because it seemed like the casing material was pretty wet when I applied it. I squeezed it out each time like the tek said, but it was just hard to keep it as thin as I hoped. Has anyone else had this problem? I thought maybe it was because I used a turkey bag instead of a pillow case for pasteurization.
Right now Its in fruiting, I'll let you know how it grows Thanks again!

i am in a very similar position right now. i have had 3 rather large substrates sitting in monotubs since the 15th colonizing, i was pressed for the actual tubs so i just used cheap rubbermaids, with the lid sliced out, and a piece of plastic underneath, obviously this isnt doing a good job of keeping condensation in, so this morning i removed the plastic rings i was using to hold the plastic on, and duct taped it all down air tight, i also sprayed a ton of distilled water all over the place because i need these to be cased no later than the 3rd of march.
based on your results would it be a good idea to rehydrate the substrate once i hit about 90% colonization? using your method? or just case and wait?
i havent worked with monotubs in the past, but i always let my tray spawns sit for 4-6 hours submerged in water, and every single time within that 4-6 hour period my second flush pins come out to play. will rehydrating put time on my side?
