what variety are you growing? what kind of grain? what is your substrate? how far along is it? give us some details :rockon:

it looks good but i can't tell what those little brown balls are. is that part of your substrate or are they blobs?
it looks a tad bit dry. you can start misting and fanning after it's fully colonized. good job :thumbup:

This is penis envy. I grew mycelium in sterilized rye grain bags. After it was fully colonized I mixed the spawn with pasterized manure and vermiculite. It's a 30 quart tub and I filled it to about 4 inches. I'm not sure what the little brown things are. Possibly pinning? I have already started misting. Def don't think it is too dry

Welcome to the Shroomery T14. If you want some good convos about your grow just put up one post,  not three with the same pic,  so people can discuss it in one place and bounce ideas off each other.  Perhaps delete two dude.

how many days ago did you spawn the tub?

those brown things might be PE blobs. it's hard to tell from the photo. it was my first guess but that tub isn't 100% colonized so i wasn't sure. blobs/pins won't show up until almost 2 weeks with PE.

Ok so for now prob the best thing to do would be keep the lid on and just leave it for now?

I was shocked at how fast the mycelium started spreading once I put it in the tub. Within 2 days it went from black to white!

I don't know what the blobs are that you speak of. What is their purpose? (Probably a dumbass question)

I have 3 pounds of fully colonized rye grain mixed with 5 pounds of pasterized substrate if that helps

usually uncased PE will form ugly looking blobs instead of standard looking fruit bodies. you should seriously consider throwing a pasteurized 50/50 verm and peat casing layer on your next tub.

Yeah this is just a trial and error thing. I really have no idea what I'm doing, but have done a lot of research. I have a bag of pink buffalo that is close to fully colonized so I will start a new tub soon. I got the substrate online bc it seemed difficult to pasteurize it at home.

any time you sterilize or pasteurize something and then ship it, you're going to have mixed (usually poor) results. it's not hard to pasteurize it at home.
