Strange problem after switching to HDMI
    #25678608 -

I bought a 5m hdmi to use my mc in other room with wireless mouse keyboard and take advantage of a nice stereo that will make movies incredibly detailed and loud but only in 2.0....

last time i looked dvi cables seemed expensive at this length so i bought the hdmi without looking at dvi as it appears i could of just bought a dvi for same price as im having issues with the hdmi

hdmi is reduced to 60hz ive learned and my monitor is 144 capable but thats not an issue so much, what ive noticed is a strange bar across the screen not always in the same space about 8mm thick and is based on movement (like the t-rex haha) if im scrolling up and down a page or a movie has a lot of movement it is there annoying as hell, not always in the same place say either 1 1/3 or 2 1/3 up the screen

it doesnt appear to always happen either...

anyone know what this is?

Sounds like some kind of interference. Bad shielding maybe?

You said your HDMI cable is 5 meters long?

yes 5 meters does that have anything to do with it, is the data is struggling at times? i thought interference too or just a cheap brand issue but it had sold 1000+ on ebay

ive tried a few setting in the nvidia options and v sync did nothing on or off/adaptive etc

the bar is clear/see through btw not like normal interference b/w as i saw a lot of pictures of other issues but not mine when i goggled this

Hmmm.

Maybe try another HDMI cable see if that helps.

You might need an HDMI boaster adapter, perhaps the signal isnt strong enough.

ok well it looks cheaper to get a 5m dvi cable, im confused as to why it wont wok above 60hz, im new to hdmi this being my first cable but according to what ive recently learned it should go up to 120 at least and this cable is capable of that

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Premium-HDMI-Flat-Cable-v2-0-1-2-3-5-7-5-10-15-20M-HighSpeed-4K-UltraHD-2160p-3D/161781516370?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=460755240853&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

not a priority atm so will have to wait till after new years to see if a dvi sorts this out

You probably don't need beyond 60 hz for movies, even today most films are shot in 24 fps. I wouldn't worry about that unless you're a PC gamer.

Run your cable through a metal pipe

Hdmi is digital the cable doesn't even need shielding.the cheapest hdmi cable is as good as the best as far as that goes.
Interference really effects analog signals. Digitized signals are 0s and 1s no interference is going to flub the signal enough that the converter can't still read it as intended.
