Make sure your 360 has a HDMI port and also make sure your TV is HD.

Yeah. that's all you need.

Futureshop and those kinds of places (actually, everywhere) will try to sell you HDMI cables for about $100, which is complete BS.

A digital signal cannot 'degrade', it's either on or off. The argument is the higher quality material (gold, usually) makes for a better, lossless signal, which makes no sense. Yeah, material makes a difference for analog signal - analog signals can degrade, but HDMI is digital- the signal is 0 or 1. So don't buy in to that crap.

Hard to tell if thats an hdmi slot on your Xbox... Does it look the same as the slot on your tv? If so then you're good.

yea, you just need a standard hdmi cable. disreguard any "360" hype and go for price  they are hella expensive in the retail stores. How much is that in $US after shipping?

oh, and 6 feet is almost never long enough

I've got one of the older 360's that doesn't even have the HDMI port.

But it still hooks up in HD though, just with 6 of those little prongs, the red, white, and yellow ones.

It comes in crystal clear 1080 HD, but I hear the HDMI cables work slighly better.

Meh, it makes absolutely no difference to the image quality.

I didn't think it made much difference.

Does it make a difference in sound quality?

Even if it does make a difference in sound quality that wouldn't affect me anyways. Right now I've got the two auido cables hooked up to my stero so the audio plays out my stero rather than the TV. But with the HDMI i would have to plug it into the TV so the audio would be worse anyways.

It depends how you run your sound.  Xbox can take optical out, and that goes into most receivers, and is also digital.  Realistically, it doesn't matter.  I remember seeing a study once where they took a group of audiophiles, blind-folded them in a room, and played some high-end speakers with two kinds of wire: super expensive speaker wire, and coat hangers.

They couldn't tell a difference, and in fact I believe I remember the coat hangers got a slightly higher rating
