Did I just find Cyans? Please ID ❤️

The picture is far because I had to be lowkey about taking a picture at the time of discovery I think from evens a far though these are surely cyans..I would like to go back to get closer pictures tonight and keep this post updated shortly. If you zoom in you can see them more clearly.. you can even see subtle bruising.







UPDATE:

went to picking a few and got home and they are bruising like crazy I think we got a winner boys
How can I go about storing these for a few days if I intend too keep them wet?

When I zoom in all I get is pixels.

They do look wavy.

Update the with some close ups after your ninja mission and we can help you further.

Thanks for the response guys,, how long do stay around will they be dried out by late night you think? Also, if I do end up picking some how can I do so without damaging the patch.. should I only be harvesting the most mature ones in hopes that more might grow in a few days?

Use scissors or place your hand palm down with the stem between your index and middle fingers and gently tug the mushroom out of the ground, you can keep the stem butts in between moist cardboard and start your own patch.

They take a few days or so to grow to full size. Those ones will still be there tonight unless someone else picks them.


You can either snip the base of the mushroom with scissors to harvest or gently pull the fruit out of the ground. Just be gentle and try not to leave any large holes or disturb the woodchips too much. Also be careful when walking in to collect them, there could be pins forming and you don't want to stomp on those.

I also agree with taking pictures during the day and if confronted just say you take pictures of mushrooms. It's not illegal to do so. Just don't carry anything illegal on you in case law enforcement shakes you down, which has never happened to me in many many years of mushrooming. You mileage may vary though.

So I don’t have a paper bag or anything to put them in right now, but I might be able to get a potato chip bag or something similar.. would a clean paper coffee cup or something like that work to store them for now? I heard you can’t use plastic bags for some reason? thanks again for all your help and wisdom everyone - also to start my own patch do i have to collect spore onto the wet cardboard and then place it some  mulch outside?

A paper bag is good, but I always just use either a tupperware container or just a simple plastic carrier bag and dry or eat them when I get home.

Perfect thank you! Since they are wild mushrooms do I have to wash them thoroughly first before eating them? how do I do this without ruining them

Mushrooms are mostly water so washing them wont hurt them in any way, just use a sieve or coulender :thumbsup:

Actually, psilocybin is water soluble so cleaning them with a brush is preferable as you can diminish their potency by getting them too wet.

I always thought it was just too hot water that degrades the actives. I guess you learn something new everyday, Thanks. I usually just eat my shrooms  wet as they are. Good to know this now as when I make shroom tea I wash my mushrooms first.

I’ve updated the images, you can see dark bruising all over and al over the napkin theirs the signature colored spores.. I think these are undoubtedly cyans but waiting for someone to ID 100% first before I even think of digesting these

I gave most to a buddy because he has a better situation to store them. For the few I took home can I dry them with this setup over night ? With a fan..

yes all around ... you dont need anything fancy any way. Fan to dry is good. An empty box like that is fine. All you wont want is a plastic bag that doesn't breathe.

Take note of the striations at the margin, caramel cap, intense bluing and the HARD grip they had on the bark when you pulled them. Nothing "pulls" like P. Cyans and Allenii. They grip to the ground way stronger than you'd expect for a mushroom their size. Unless you clip at the base of the stem, it's very hard NOT to pull up myc with the fruit.

You can dry them on a counter top, just takes a few days. Make sure the room is kinda warm. Not cold.

Let your mushrooms dry thoroughly then take an old toothbrush to remove the dirt and debris, as Doctor Ghosty says, psilocybin and psilocin are water soluble not hot water soluble.

Hot or boiling water will release more of the active indoles because it breaks down the cellular walls but regular water out the tap will also release the same indoles just in smaller amounts.

Edit: I forgot to mention,  plastic bags accelerate the decomposition of mushrooms, they will rot faster in plastic containers,  paper or an open air basket is best.
