i dotn have any pictures. i am going to scan pics tonight when the prints are done. im hoping they are cyans but they never are.
couple things. cant they grow from maple debris/leaves amongst things liek firs and cedars?
i spent half the day lookign for alder mulch. there is none here. everyone uses fir/cedar for everything. so i spent my time looking in natural habitats.
anyways any input would be great! 
oh and when i was there i didnt keep them cause they were in grass...then i remember they can grow in grass. they are the exact looks of #2 except tehy are growing in grass by a mulched treed area. dunno what type f mulch but they were in the grass anyway. there mainly pines and larchs type trees planted there, but soem decidous and soem fancy oriental stuff that i dunno what it is exactly (needle trees).

well, do the stems bruise a very obvious blue?
if they dont then you're out of luck, that is one major characteristic of woodlovers: intense blueing.
also, there have been few to no reports of them ever growing in "natural" environments. they only grow in landscaped areas (parks, public buildings, churces, etc) with alder chips. i'm not sure about its ability to grow on other mulch.

well i think it would have to grow on other mulch... i'm sure cyanescens were around before landscaped areas.

if blueing is the determining factor they arnt. they have not changed a bit since i picked them. ohh well thanksa bunch.
ya they would be around before but alder was around before as well...im assuming they would still grow on dead alder in teh wild, no?
are they ever found on other woods? like maple, any others fo the birch family?

the thing is, cyans have fulfilled a certain ecological niche: alder woodchips. i would imagine it is impossible to find them in the "wild" today, regardless of where they originated. they evolved to fill their own ecological niche and now have the genes that maximize their success in chips. they just do best there, for the same reason that cubensis grow on poo. i'm sure that at one point they had a different niche to start out with but now they have maximum success on that substrate and environment.
kadakuda--no worries! you'll get them sometime! just look for those alder chips, it sounds like BC doesnt have many! you may have to just dump some in your backyard to solve that problem

hehe thanks. actually i got my pits filled with alder/birch already 
i set tehm up in september. im jsut waiting for some to transplant... if im shit outa luck this year ill jsut look for someone willing to trade prints. at least then i knwo where some are.
but hey at least ive found muscarinas and edibles. not a total loss

if your growing your own patch its usually wise to plant in the spring prior to the fall you want them to fruit. you prolly wont get any fruits this season, but next season you most likely will!
keep looking, the season is still early IMHO, only about 1/4 to 1/2 of my patches are fruiting.
and you've definitely done well with edibles!!

ya im in no rush but i am kinda rushed to get things started this year so i can benefit later on. but ya im learning lots. the oysters have gone brown mushy and grose. but damn are the lobsters in full swing!
anyway im sure ill find one active come years end! i reckon.

spawn as in spores? or you mean liek when people grow the mycelium in those alder chip bags and get it full then fruit it later?
